FUN ACTIIVITES
Below are some fun activities you will find useful to do with the girls in your groups
Pictures
Take a bunch of pictures from a magazine and cut them in half.  Pin one half to one girl (on her back) and the other half to another girl (on her back).  Then have all of the girls try to find the person who has the missing half of their picture.  (They cannot look at their picture before you pin them on.)  Each girl must ask other girls questions about her picture so that she can guess what it looks like and find the missing half of the picture.
Animal Noises
Write the name of an animal on two different pieces of paper.  Have the girls draw a paper.  When everyone knows what animal name they are, have the girls start making the noise that animal makes.  The goal is to find what the other person(s) that are the same animal.  This would be a good way to divide up into patrols.
People to People
Players are paired in random plus a "caller".  The person who is the "caller" gives commands which others follow.  Example:  back to back, knee to knee, etc.  Players match body parts (knee to knee) with their partner until the "caller" calls "people to people".  Then everyone, including the "caller" tries to find a new partner.  Whoever is left without a partner is now the "caller".
Caterpillar Relay
Each team forms a line and each girl must hold onto the waist of the girl in front of her.  They may stretch out as far as possible so long as they don't separate.  When the whistle blows, the girl at the back goes down on her hands and knees and must crawl through the legs of the whole group, when she gets to the front she jumps up, her waist gets grabbed, and the girl who is now at the back goes through.  You can either do this down to the finish line or down and back (by reaching the turning point and having all girls spin around so they are facing back the way they came).
M&M Game
When seated in a circle, give each girl a handful of M&M's.  Explain each color represents a cue to say something about themselves.  For example:
Red - tell something about your family
Green - tell something that you did over the summer
Yellow - tell what you like to do in your spare time
Blue - tell about a pet you have
Take turns going around the circle saying something about each color.  Brown M&M's are free just to eat.
The Leader of the Pack
Step 1: One player, the guesser, goes around the corner of the house while the remaining players sit in a circle and select a leader (quietly).
Step 2: The leader then initiates a series of motions - hand movements, claps, food stomps an so on - which the other players copy.
Step 3: The guesser is then called back to watch the group.  The leader must change the movements every 5-20 seconds.  The followers try not to give away the leader with their eyes.
Step 4: The guesser gets three tries to identify the right person
Mingle
Everyone mingles throughout the crowd until someone calls out a number. Everyone must then get into groups of exactly the number called.  Whoever is left, is out of the game.  A different number is called each time.
Knots
The group forms a circle.  Everyone puts one hand into the circle and holds the hand of someone across from them.  Then place the remaining hands into different people's hands.  Without breaking hands, the group should try to untangle into a circle.
Red Handed
Everyone forms a circle with one person in the middle.  The player in the middle closes her eyes, while the object is passed around the circle.  "It" will then open their eyes and try to find the object while it is passed.  When the object is located a new player goes in the middle.
Lighthouse
Pick a player to become a lighthouse and a ship.  The rest of the players are rocks.  Blindfold the ship.  In the boundary area (the ocean) have "rock's" sit in a  spot then freeze.  Stand the "light" at one end of the ocean and the "ship' at the other end.  Have the lighthouse guide the ship, by giving verbal directions, through the rocks hazards to safety.  Make sure the rocks spot the ship in case of it sinking on the rocks.
The Chair
Stand shoulder to shoulder in a circle.  Turn to the right and take a step toward the center of the circle.  Put your hands on the shoulders of the person in front of you.  Count to three and sit gently on the knees of the person behind you.  The group should support itself without falling over.
