MUSIC
Take me home!
Music is such a wide subject for anyone. I have such diverse tastes, but I hope you get a flavour of what I like and why on this page.
Dusty Springfield
Dusty has to be one of the best vocalists ever. it was her voice which first drew me to her.

The emotion and "soul" quality of her voice raise her songs to a much higher level. Her death in 1999 was a huge loss to the world of music.

My favourite songs are "Stay Awhile", "Goin' Back" and "Son of a Preacher Man".
Patti LaBelle
Forget Christina and all the others. Ony one soul sister can do "Lady Marmalade" and that's Miss Patti!

This lady sings with every every fibre in her body. Like Dusty she doesn't just sing songs, she performs. Unfortunately Patti doesn't come to the UK  very often.

My favourite tracks by her are "Love Never Dies", "New Attitude" and "If You Asked Me To"

She's not only a fabulous singer, but this girl can cook with a vengeance! If you've ever caught her on her good friend Oprah Winfrey's show, you'll know what I mean.  Forget you sun-dried tomatoes on rye, try out Miss Patti's egg sandwich.

Check out her site
here.
Loreena McKennitt
I can only describe Loreena's voice as sublime. This is a very talented Canadian who has a unique style in the folk/New Age world. She picks traditional folk songs and places them next to her own compositions to create a mesmerizing sound experience. Listen to "Lady of Shalott", "The Mummers Dance" and "Samhain Night".

Sadly Loreena appears to have retired from music following a personal tragedy. She is involved in a memorial fund. Find out more at ner
website, where there are also samples of some of her haunting work.
Enya
Like Loreena, Enya has cornered a unique area on the fringes of folk and New Age.
Her songs are total relaxation music and I love to immerse myself in her music.

Her compositions for "The Lord of the Rings" are just the latest in a great musical legacy.

Favourite tracis include "Book of Days", "Orinoco Flow", "Storms in Africa" and "Anywhere Is"
Dead or Alive
"You Spin Me Round" was not the beginning and end of Dead or Alive. This group had consistently reinvented itself.

Pete Burns is more than a frontman! He is so much larger than life and both he and his co-conspirator Steve Coy reflect this in the songs.

Favourite tracks are: "Nukleopatra", "International Thing" and the new version of "You spin Me Round" featured on the album "Fragile". A "Best of" album is scheduled for this year.
