~ Our House 2002~
Fourteen days 'til Christmas and wouldn't you guess..
Not a present is wrapped and this house is a mess.
I've been working late and am dead on my feet;
Alan keeps whining, "There's nothing to eat."
The Hubbards from Holly will be here real soon;
Matthew, Samantha and Gavin, just born in June.
Scott has been working long hours each day.
No time to relax, no time just to play.
Shannon's at home, with places to go.
Not much time for rest with three kids in tow.
To school, to the store, a stop at the zoo,
the Dentist the Doctor and back home by two.
Betsy and Shawn just moved across K~zoo.
More room, a garage, and a dishwasher too.
They're still unpacking and running around,
shopping for curtains, at World Market downtown.
Shawn's still teaching at Battle Creek~the 8th grade,
finally feels settled and glad that he stayed.
Betsy is teaching in Kalamazoo
Kindergarten - full time and she's happy too.
Carrie and Stewart have moved on as well,
The Hastings - a house with stories to tell.
The oven, the electric and no working shower,
but things have improved with the help of Dad Power.
Their house is old, but has charm and grace
And we're happy to see them in their own place.
Thanksgiving was there we all had great fun,
The whole family attended the first party by Dunn.
As for Alan and I , we are doing just fine;
Happy and healthy, though lacking for time,
For doing the things that we love the best,
Family, friends and all of the rest.
Warm hearts and well wishes we're sending your way,
Not only for Christmas, but every new day.
May your season be merry, your new year be bright,
Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night!
