The Tour to Tinangol, Kudat, Sabah
8-10 May 2004
I participated in a tour organised by the UNDP/GEF Peat Swamp Forest Project involving 25 community representatives of five villages of the Klias Peninsula. The tour was made to a Rungus community located in the Matunggong sub-District in Kudat, Sabah. The small convoy, also called 'XPDC Klias to Tinangol' was flagged off in Beaufort on 8 May 2004 en route to Kudat making stop-overs at Kota Kinabalu and Kota Belud and completed the round trip on 10 May. The trip also took the participants to the northern tip of Sabah, the famous Sempang Mengayau, off Kudat. This was one of my many convoys, which I have always loved to participate for the travel adventures, group interactions and the opportunities to see interesting places.

The XPDC Klias was organized with the following objectives; namely
1. To visit other communities to learn and share travel experiences;
2. To experience and appreciate the scenery and cross-country travels; and
3. To instill a sense of comradeship among the community members.

The convoy achieved its objectives, as scheduled. All participants returned safely to their respective homes, with promises and plans for more in the future. There will be many more of such outings and travels that I plan to organise in future.
