| LIFE and LOVE I am nearly 50 years old now, yet I feel more alive than when I was younger. My experiences have enhanced my life, made me a better person, I have never stopped learning. The mistakes I have made, and there have been many, my triumphs, joys and tragedies, have all contributed to who I am. My past is me, I am now, the future is my destiny. Love is the one thing in life we can never have too much of. All else should be enjoyed, savoured, but in moderation. Love is perhaps the most misunderstood of all things for people seem to misuse the word all the time, seem to misunderstand what love is, how it affects us. A true indication is the love shown by parents for children. It is not a romantic love, yet it has the qualities all love should have. Love is about giving freely, about nurturing, learning and growing together. It is doing our best for each other, the comforting touch when we need comfort, the fulfilling of our needs. Equally people should show these things to each other, should learn and grow together. Communication and honesty are the most important things, for without these there cannot be trust and respect. Romantic love should have other qualities as well including a physical attraction, an emotional attraction, and most important of all, committment. It seems to me that so many people do not learn from love in a positive way, that they take selfishly without giving, without honesty, without communication. I have met many, many people who see learning in a negative way, who become too cautious, too lacking in communication and committment, who blame all the time instead of taking responsibility for their own actions. Love is beautiful, and life is full of positive experiences, we but have to see them. I pity the ones who cannot learn, who are bitter, dishonest, lacking in committment and unable to appreciate just how beautiful love and life are. Everything has positive in it, all of our experiences, we but have to look. To me, the best saying is not "look at what someone has doen to me", but rather "look at what I have allowed to happen to me". Each of us is responsible for our life, it is unique and we each live in our own individual world. To sum true love up, I quote from a book I have written: "Love, perhaps the strongest of emotions. A word that covers feelings between parent and child, brothers and sisters, lovers and partners. We all hope we have it, we all aspire to true love, hope that the person we remain with for life will always treat us well, remain by our side. Soul mates, a term used often, but what is a soul mate? I think it is when two people genuinely have a chemistry, enjoy doing so many things together. I think it is communication, a way of talking that transcends normal interaction. It is a respect, a feeling deep inside of rightness. It is passion, trust, the knowledge the person you love cannot ever be replaced. Soul mates are forever, once we have met our soul mate it is unlikely we will ever truly love again. The qualities that soul mates have are those where we see people dying from broken hearts after the loss of their mates. Soul mate is forever. This is the love that is written about, that people want, search for. Soul mates can be lost, true love cannot die but we can live without the person as long as they are still alive. having lost does not mean love is not there, rather a choice has been made as to who to spend time with. Still, once ignited these fires burn forever and the heat is always there even if ignored. I have been lucky, for true love found me. I also lost my true love, and I can but hope that one day God brings us together again. We had a love so unique, so enjoyable, so true, that it shone, others could see it, not always without jealousy I may add." For the only time I have ever known magic, true romance, and true love. In darkness I see your blue eyes drawing me in still, holding me captive. I still feel your touch, the warmth of your arms around me. I still smell your scent, Taste you on my lips. My senses are filled with you, my heart is filled with you, my soul is filled with you. My life is yours forever my darling, I offer it to you. Magic is when you slow dance and a thousand people form a circle around you but you don't notice because you are drowning in each others eyes. It is an international star singing a romantic song to you alone while everyone else looks on, is a stranger stepping from the crowd and saying "say yes, you've got to marry this man". True romance is enjoying so many things together, little touches, finding a new flower together, laying in bed all Monday talking and making love, the little looks, the little smiles. It is poetry, holding hands, skinny dipping together. True love is when your heart beats in anothers chest, when they are the most important person in your life and you theirs. It is the most intimate of communication, the deepest respect and trust, it is finding the Yin and Yang, fitting together so well. |
