| Today is the first day of the rest of my life. It is the first day of the rest of your's too. We all CAN ONLY live but one moment, one hour, one day at a time, for the passage of time is as constant and unrelenting as the pounding of the surf on the shore. Like the surf time changes life, sometimes adding to it's shape, it's substance, sometimes eroding it, taking it away. Life is a shining jewel in the blackness of time, an experience best savoured, cherished and beloved, for we each get but one. Far too short for some, far too long for others, we have no control whatsoever on the passage of time, and no matter the best layed plans of man the unpredictability, the chaotic nature of the relentless march of time ensures that all is uncertain. We experience life as it comes, planning and hoping for the best. We do have control, a say, but in the deepest matters of life we are but motes in the universe existing for but the briefest of moments. LIFE AS IT COMES. Living but a moment, Existing like a breeze, The soft caress of time brushes my cheeks. Experience covers me like warm silk, Holding me close in her arms, Time nurtures, feeds me. I start all wrinkled, Small and weak, in need of nurture, The arms of time hold me firmly in their grasp. Growing and learning embrace my life, Dragged along with the flow I ripen, develop, time marches on. I mature and start my own link, Loving, breeding, toiling to live, Time is my master, it makes me strong. In my decline, My life is tattered, comfortable but worn, My envy, my destiny, is good old time. At deathbed I see her, Shining like a beckoning light, My moment of glory, my friend deserts me at last.
