| Freshwater crabs belong to three superfamilies: potamoidea, gecarcinucoidea & grapsoidea. Unlike marine crabs, freshwater & terrestrial crabs have few eggs which undergo direct or abbreviated development; free swimming larvae are either absent or of very short duration.
