As Remembered By Shawn Sahm

Prezence started off as a high school band from Clark High School, at least the idea. The first step was a talent show, which was a big hit, and around this time Shawn met Neal Walker (soon to be Bass Player), who invited Shawn to jam with his band Monarch, which is where Shawn finds Gary Powell (soon to be Drummer). Not long after this they added Jim Collins (Guitarist). Shawn gets some studio time from his father (Doug Sahm--aka Texas Tornados) at Willie Nelson Studios which is where the first EP was recorded Life In The City. At this point Shawn is Lead Singer, for a little while, then they find there Front Man Carlos Trevino.

1985 they hit the studio again and record ROCK LOUDER and OVER YOU which got unbelievable local air-play and attention on 99.5 KISS in San Antonio, who played these tunes on all their time slots, also the rival station KZXL gets in on the action! #1 on the local charts!

They're now selling 3000+ tickets to their own shows and start Head Lining for major shows. METALLICA, TESLA, TED NUGENT, LEGS DIAMOND, ETC!!!

Things are going great so they record more tunes, like Skyz On Fire and Breaking Away and both did well locally.

In the late '80's Carlos Trevino was replaced by Jimi Scott, and more recordings are made.

But Prezence had no luck when it came to Labels, and soon (around '92 - '93) Prezence was no more!

Prezence was another Rare Rock Group, that made a big mark in what Home Grown Rock 'N' Roll is all about. Living in San Antonio, you saw a lot of Groups come and go, but only a small few have the desire, the chemistry, and the skill to make a Permanent mark in our minds. A song you hear once, but never forget. If you never heard Prezence, and you love '80's rock, you'll love this group!

Many thanks to Shawn Sahm and Neal Walker, without whom this page would not be possible!
