Father O'Rafferty
Mrs. O'Donovan was walking down O'Connell Street in Dublin when
she met up
with Father O'Rafferty.
"Top o' the mornin' to ye," said the Father, "Aren't you Mrs.
O'Donovan?
Didn't I marry ye and yer husband two years ago?"
She replied "Aye, that ye did, Father."
"And be there any wee ones yet?"
"No, not yet, Father," Mrs. O'Donovan said.
"Well, now, I'm going to Rome next week, and I'll light a candle
for ye."
"Oh, thank ye, Father."
They parted ways.
Some years later they met again.
"Well, now, Mrs. O'Donovan," the priest said. "How are ye these
days?"
"Oh, very well," said she.
"And tell me," he said. "Have ye any wee ones yet?"
"Oh, yes, Father," Mrs. O'Donovan replied. "Three sets of twins
and four singles -- 10 in all."
"Aye, that's wonderful!" he said. "And how is your lovely
husband?"
"Oh," she said. "E's gone to Rome to blow out yer candle!"

Sigmund Freud (about the Irish)
An Irishman arrived at J.F.K. Airport and wandered around the terminal with tears streaming down his cheeks. An airline employee asked him if he was already homesick. "No," replied the Irishman. "I've lost all me luggage!" "How'd that happen?" "The cork fell out!" said the Irishman. ---

The Englishman looks disgusted, pushes his pint away and demands another pint. The Scotsman picks out the fly, shrugs, and takes a long swallow. The Irishman reaches into the glass, pinches the fly between his fingers and shakes him while yelling, "Spit it out, ye bug!!! Spit it out!" ---

*I live in Florida please slow down your boats in the intercoastal!*SAVING MANATEES Navy researchers have contributed to a set
of automatic gates, equipped with sensors like those on
garage door openers, which are saving manatees in Florida.
Manatees are big marine mammals, as much as 12 feet long,
and weighing up to 1,500 pounds, who live in the warm water
off Florida, but are often killed by boats' propellers or
trapped in man-made structures. But the lock gates at Port
Canaveral in Florida are equipped with 320 sensors which
detect moving underwater objects, such as swimmers or
manatees, and stop the gates from closing. During the time
the Office of Naval Research was testing the sensors, five
of the slow-moving manatees were saved from closing gates.
The sensors rely on acoustic signals, like sonar does, to
detect objects near the gates. A second-generation system
is now in place, protecting these endangered mammals at the port.
