A smile in the halls

Her face was never dim like mine
but was always soft and smiling
Her name will be known forever
blowing in the wind for miles

She danced around the hallways
Like an angel singing songs
Her mind was cleared of herself
And fixed just on righting wrongs

Her way of dress was not like ours
In her state of long, pink gowns
She would always think of others
And give hugs to those with frowns.

I remember her energy
and how she would always laugh
But especially how we'd tell her
to stop singing during class

Now the halls seem big and empty
Without her warm, smiling face
silk flowers in her memory
are dumped all over the place

Students are upset and crying
Without the warmth she'd be bringing
But god, why did we ever tell her
to shut up and stop singing?
