| Melissa was a special person. I regret that I only knew her for less than a year, and never met her in person. But I'm also glad I got to know her for the short time I did. She was passionate, smart, talented and beautiful. She left an impact on everyone who knew her. We love you and miss you, Melissa. |
| Stephanie lives in a home that almost every dyke would envy -- her mom and older sisters are all queer! She's been to the Michigan Women's Music Festival, she's a runner, and she's come out to tons of people at school. She calls me a dork and her favorite expression is "Oh, shut up Bob!" but I love her anyway. :) |

Amy in Texas...Crystal in Mississippi...they're all fabulous!! |

| Kali really inspires me. She's just 14 but has come out to bunches of people in her North Dakota town. This dyke has lots of tomboy pride! Kali can't seem to get enough gay books and videos from me. She loves softball, has a gay uncle, and she wants to start a Gay/Straight Alliance in her school this fall. With gutsy girls like her around, the queer movement is going to make a lot of progress in the years ahead! Go Baby Butch! |

| Lois is my newest niece, and the first who doesn't live in the U.S. She was born in Ukraine, and now is breaking the hearts of young girls in Israel. Lois is a high school senior who likes writing and psychology. She's also active with a queer online group in Israel called Angels in Pink. Besides being queer, there's something else I share with Lois---we both love Hilary Swank! I'm really glad to be able to add this very gutsy girl to my group of nieces. |
