The valley is an emerald set in pearls; a land of lakes, clear streams, green turf, magnificient trees and mighty mountains where the air is cool, and the water sweet, where men are strong, and women vie with the soil in fruitfulness. -- Sir Walter Lawrence

Kashmir, the northwestern most state of India has been of much controversy and the cause of two out of three Indo-Pakistan wars. The proxy war of 1999 between India and Pakistan had again been over Kashmir.  Both Pakistan and India hold part of Kashmir and claim the whole Kashmir. Pakistan wants the world and especially the western powers to intervene on their behalf. They are counting on their ally the United States to step in and force India to give up the state. India, however, is also strong on its position that Kashmir is an integral part of India. This crisis has become of global importance. India and Pakistan are the two newest nuclear-powers and their problems are now the problems of the world. It is time for the world to know the true nature of the problem.
