Dear Noval, <-- Ahem ... thats NOVO

Hello my friend.  And yes, rckr (Rocker abr.), does consider you to be a friend.  This, is not a business call, this is a personal call, although, my gut instinct tells me there is a very strong possibility that we were brought to together through fate for a much greater and higher purpose and reason than mathematics.  What that reason is, only the forces of nature truly know :-)

I have glanced through alot of your homepage fly.to/novo... I am not a person who is insecure or unsure of my beliefs, which is, why I have no motivation or secret hidden agenda to try to convert anybody to any belief I may have.  I am most definately going to touch on some of the points and perhaps share a little of my wisdom and beliefs with you, just so you get a pretty good idea of who I am.  My guess is, you probably already know.   I do not believe it is by mere coincidence that we ever met since I do not subscribe to the notion of the existance of coincidence; silly, lol.... My best guess that we do tend to "gel" pretty well and seem to like one another because, unkowest to us when we crossed paths and you were to teach me math skills, we already shared many common views, beliefs, and paths for living.  Yet, until just months ago, we did not know of one another, never new one another existed, nonetheless, we both share in many common beliefs.  Sex, government, religious doctrine, personal values, etc.

Personally, mankind in his infinite wisdom, is not that infinetely wise.  To add a little to your sayings my personal favorites which I tell myself whenever the need arises are: 1) "if it's to be, it's up to me."  Don't let the egocentricity sound of the statement fool you my friend.  It has nothing to do with personal ego and has everything to do with personal empowerment, achievement, and, most importantly as a rule for living, "personal responsibility for the direction and happenings of one's life," that, which is within our control and capabilities.  I am certain, that you have noticed a very similar pattern in many americans that many live by perpetual propulsion, that is, a lack of personal responsibility and respect for those things of nature.  Americans are very spoiled and rich people by world standards.  Not so rich, by and large, spiritually and emotionally though.  Why, its the money, silly.

If rckr had one wish today though, it would be that you recognize the value of your own conceptual idealogies, "a world without boundary."  Americans, are, at their basic core, "human beings."  And hopefully, if and when you return to your native land, you will have told your friends and family at home that while our stereotypes are somewhat correct, many Americans are by and large, just like us.  Friendly, humorous, outgoing, outspoken, sensitive, and are generally nice poeple.  Perhaps I was put in your life so you might realize that to be true.  Because, I am certain that many of the population whom you live with in the dorm Hall, I could tell the first time I came there, are mean spirited, nasty, and I am certain not open-minded and have no value for friendship or cultural diversity, and even an outright hatred for people who look a little different, talk a little different, and come from a distant land.  You have been sent her to realize both, the good and the bad (oh yeah, excuse me,,, u don't recognize good and bad, lol).  And personally, I am sorry for whatever personal hardships you have had to endure from people who you live with who are not so well intentioned and recognize that even those poeple, in their ignorance, are a learning aide in your journey of life.   They were here to show you, what not to be like and how not to treat people.   Because if you never experienced meanness, you would not know the meaning of compassion.

So, the only thing i absolutely positively ask of you is that you will right down this email address and save it for the remainder of your life.  Because, 30 years from now, if I'm still alive and you are, I want to know what you're doing and how you are doing.   See, now you did it to, I am aquarius, we are known for being humanitarian and as curious as can be.  Now I am just going to have to add Bangladesh to my list of must experience.  Naturally, by motorcycle.

Okay, now it's to the philisophical.  Rckr believes in a divine power of the universe.   I often times use the word God for lack of a better word.  My convictions, while I am baptised a catholic, are within me.  They are not so much of what I've learned as they are a part of "who I am" as an entity.  My beliefs on sexuality are ditto.  My believes on cause and effect, good and bad are not as identical.  Personally, I think it is a silly concept to believe that a man with a gray beard, golden boots, and a golden belt buckle sits on top of a planet we can't see, and calls the shots on earth.  But, it is just as silly as a concept to believe in nothingness.  The truth be known, it is simply probably not for us to know.   Because, if we were truly that smart, we would already know, there would not be multiple debates on the topic, and there truly would be one God.

Human beings, much like the animal world, are very much like animals.  Mostly, because we are animals.  Our behaviors and instincts very much model all other animals on the planet.  While Freud was silly enough to proclaim and list our "must haves" our necessities of life as power, sex, food, water, I guess he forgot there are a whole bunch of inhabitants of this planet who "must have" the exact same things.

International boundaries and a world without boundaries amongst human beings will never exist unless our world is attacked by an alien force, which, is possible.  Because anything and everything (barring manmade barriers) is possible.  My basis for that reasoning can really be found amongst the wild animal kingdom (no dude, i'm not talking about the big party down the road on fridays, lol).  Snakes create their own boundaries in their dens, bears, wolf packs, wild dogs, fish, etc.  Alot of wild animals define boundaries and defend them until death.  The reason they do so is probably a natural instinct to do so.  Man is not so different from the animals.  It is only man (a scientist) who makes the determination that we are the most intelligent being on the planet and the only one thing that separates us from the wild animal kingdom is "reasoning ability."  Guess what bud, how does Joe Blow scientist truly know that the deer do not telepathically connect to one another to signal danger.  In all reality, he really doesn't.  Scientist can hook up all the electronic gizmo's they want and read brain waves, but ultimately and eventually, they must run out of answers because, we very simply, aren't supposed to know everything.  My basis, it's obvious and that is my answer.  Obvious, silly.  What we are supposed to know is obvious.  So, while I do personally strive to touch paths in a positive way with all people I meet, doesn't mean necessarily that ultimately and eventually, does not mean we are to really all get along well.  Just like in the animal kingdom, everything has a place and a place has everything.

On the death penalty issue, rckr is a proponent of the death penalty.  That would not be on the basis of deterence of hideous crimes.  That is based on the belief, that some victims of crimes have been so traumaticized and wronged, truly forever in many of the instances, that the offender has clearly indicated that they will violate the right to life without interference to the rest of the population.  My forumation, the obvious, they've already committed an act which is in direct contrast and violation to the number one principal of humaness, survive.  I do not support life imprisonement.  Then, you are putting other people in danger who, while they may not be viewed as petty criminals, are not dangerous to other persons.  And, the notion that if 1 innocent person dies as a result of execution imo, is not a substantial enough argument against it.   Alot more than 1 innocent person dies each and every day.  People die when they are supposed to die and if accidental or untimely deaths were to cease to exist, there would be no room on the planet.

While I personally strive to live a life where the concept of "Kharma" is truly in my foremind often times before I make decisions which could impact other persons, I am not so sure I subscribe to the belief after discussions I have had with my AA sponsor about Kharma.  The point he made, "well rckr, if everybody gets what they deserve, than why do these rich people (i can't say who they are) continually appear to live the good life, never have bad things happen to them, and are unscathed by the happenings and events of life.  I am somewhat more skeptical to both beliefs.  I believe things happen exactly the way they are supposed to happen.  Possibly, lol.

Democracy in its idealogy is for real.  It's just a damn shame not one single country on this earth can make it happen, lol.  The U.S. is not truly a democracy.  500 people control the laws, statutes, and governing directives of this country.  Many people are to lazy to think.  The United States was founded on bloodshed and there will be bloodshed again in revolt of the political oppression.  It is not a matter of if, it is more a matter of when.  If we were truly free, then watch what happens if u repeatedly search the internet for "H o       w             t   m  a           k e a         nucl. device, lol.... They'll be dudes coming in with guns pointed at your head faster than you can say, "I wish i was done with school."  Yuppers, it is definately a place where you pay to go to work.   Each and every email correspondence which is transmitted via the internet is read (electronically) by multi-government owned and controlled computer tracking equipment.

Are there really tigers in Bangladesh?  If yes, do they attack people?  What do people in Bangladesh eat?  What, if any, would you say is the number one contrasting personal value between people of Bangladesh and an American?  Is it safe for a pretty witty, friendly, street smart american to travel abroad to throughout the countryside on a motorcycle?  Are there drinking and eating establishments?

(NOVO: YES There are tigers there -- lots of them... in the Southern Jungles which is the SunderBans... I believe about 20+ are tiger lunch every year.

Bangladeshis eat rice, fish, meat, lotsa fish, vegetables, fruits, lots of varieties there and sweetmeat (made from cream not meat-- the most delicious thing ever) and pizza, burgers, etc ... of course, spicy is what we go for...

I would have said the dating scene is different ie taboo -- but nowadays dating is becoming normal... so I guess it would be respect for elders ... the old is not seen as a burden. OR -- sex before marriage -- um ... for girls ... its not accepted.

Bangladesh is pretty safe for foreigners ... foreigners have been visiting and settling there since 1000 BC or earlier... Of course, one must be careful like in any place else.

Drinking alcohol is seen as immoral... but there are some bars and alcohol is sold in some places. BUT don't drink the local beer... sometimes it might be pretty unsafe.)

Cya later gator... Rckr's gotta get back down to it.  Actually, cya friday at noonish.

(Art Professor)

Mon, 31 Jul 2000 Hi Novo, Just wanted to let you know that I was successful in getting into your page (Indian Art) and have read most of it - I downloaded some to read later today. You should know it is most impressive. I rarely read a paper from which I learn anything at all and your paper is a delightful exception. I think your catagorizations are pretty much on-target. It is very difficult, as we have discussed, to apply the western formal classes to non-western art, but it can be done, and you have done it nicely. The important thing about making the distinctions is to see the form, not just the content and your remarks about curves and balance indicate that you are seeing form at work. Your linkage of this experience to one of pleasure is what I hoped to see and you've done excellent work. A great deal of research. Very compelling. Thanks, Mark
