8-Ball is one of your closet friends in Portland, he is your partner in crime. As you move further into the game you will lose contact with 8-Ball. One of your main missions with 8-Ball is to invade the ship load of drugs.
As you moe onto Staunton causing a split from you and the mafia, you therefore lose contact with your closet buddy.
8-Balls hands are damaged due to the explosion which took place when he helped you to escape.

Maria works for the mafia, but also turns up late in the game working with Atsuka.When the Mafia decides to do a dirty on you, when you escape onto the boat Atsuka and Maria are there waiting for you.

You cant work for the Triads and quite honestly I wouldnt want to work for the Triads. These bunch of gangsters are only interested in killing you, and they operate around China Town. Their businesses The Launderette, and their fake fish company are their fronts. Watch your back in Chinatown or you could be picking your teeth out of the gutter.
Many of your Mafia missions will involve killing these idiots which can be quite good. Once you find a sniper or use the cheat to get one pick the Triads of with it.

Diablos are small time compared to the other gangs such as the Mafia and the Yakuza. Do not undermestimate them though as they get you doing sucicidal missions such as the car race which took me a few goes. Diablos leave you alone if you leave them alone. They are not usually aremed with guns, so if the worst happens, gun em' down.

Joey is a limo provider to the mafia, and also a son to salvatore head of the Leone family. Leones loyalty to the mafia is very high. He provides you with missions at certain times of the day, as sometimes he can be otherwise engaged, usually with Misty, or sorting business with Salvatore

You have to help Phil with one of your missions, but I dont see how Phil is an important character in the game, he dosent even let you have the tank in the backyard. You have to help him fight of some people. Once you kill all the men and completed the mission you have access to his weapons, but at a price!!!!

Donald Love has a few missions on the go for you. He is a person who is respected so he usually dosent want to be to involved in what you do. He owns love Media, and you cna hear him on Chatterbox sometimes. He makes a dsapearance though during one of the missions.
