The Difference Between a Heartbeat and Heartache
It's hard when the next heart's affected by wrecked times
Messed up, neglected, shots fired, redirected, hit
Wounds left unprotected, forgotten, infected
Scabbed, scarred and subjected
So much expected, too many afflicted
Explicit hearts battered, shattered, constricted,
Choke up, broke up, eyes woke up, restricted
Sights by walls blocked up, erected
Lives locked up from the next deceptive affection
A collection of hearts breaking into intricate pieces
infinite pieces, hearts aching for completion...
If home is where the heart is,
what happens when the heart is broken
in twos,
in threes,
shattered into life's many uncertainties
Eternally carried by
a troubled mind,
a wounded soul,
eyes wanted something to find,
a heart wanting something to hold.
Too many stories told
with the same start to the journey
the same paths that unfold,
Dips, bending and winding
through troubling times,
They conceptualize conceptual-lies
eyes conceiving conceptual-eyes,
mesmerized by simpler times,
simpler lives, when
"The next time will be different..."
yet they stay consistent
The victim of a weary heart carried,
sent on with a destination in mind
with nowhere to go.
But gone in an instant
keeping the distance between
flying and falling
sinking and swimming
finding a meaning in the mess,
or making a mess of the meaning...
Yet they still continue to make the definitive shape
of the heart, out of the minimal thoughts
from the subliminal parts in the mind,
Relentless in overwhelming the senses
Believing in completing the search for acceptance,
wondering,
Was something there, and then left,
or was it gone from the start...
Divided, two separate sides of the world
Apart, two separate sides of the heart
Desire to collide with
Another star in the midnight sky
for every tear shed,
Caught by a pillow,
no simple way to replace
a body, a head
reach out for a hand, finding the edge of the bed sheets instead,
Dream chasing
and falling behind,
Running fast, climbing high
eyes want, heart desires,
But tired in the night
lids falling in the moonlight
another day
another fight, but
the battle still continues,
the heart's will continues,
And this I tell you:
The difference between a heartbeat and heartache;
Is that one continues to live for me,
And the other desires to live for you.
