| Pramila lives in Kathmandu, Nepal. She is 8 years old and speaks Nepalese. Nepal is situated between China and India along the Southern slopes of the Himalayan Mountains. It is one of the poorest countries in the world, with more than half of the population living below the poverty line. Pramila is in school, and likes Languages. Her favorite pastime is playing with friends. Her chores include carrying water, gathering firewood, and washing dishes. She likes to do embroidery. Pramila and her family live in a 3-room house,which includes a Kitchen, a multi-use room, and one bedroom. The family sleeps on the floor on mats. Her family cooks on a wood burning stove. Pramila's house is made of mud, with a thatched roof and a mud floor. There is a community faucet, and a latrine is available. Her family includes: Krishna, (35), Pramila's father - he is a daily worker. Maiya, (30), Pramila's mother - she is a daily worker. Sharmila (6), Pramila's sister Basanti, (5), Pramila's sister Ramchandra, (8), Pramila's brother Her family lives on less than $40 a month. |
