| ADAMOU Niger |
| I signed up to sponsor Adamou on March 15th, 2002 through Childreach. My grandmother died the day before, and it made me realize even more than before that I want to have made a difference when I die. The best way I could think of to do this was to sponsor another child. Adamou is almost 10 years old but appears to be one of the millions of children worldwide that do not know their birthdate because they aren't registered at birth. He likes to play with toy cars and football. Health - he looks so sick in this photograph because he has been treated for malaria, and has just recovered. School - Adamou is in the third grade, and is an average student. His favorite lesson is drawing. Adamou lives in the community of Sabadoueye, with his mother and sister. His father does not live with the family because he works outside the community. The village of Saboudeye was founded by Sabou in 1801, who built a well there - thus the name of the village 'Sabou's Well'. Saboudeye is about 169 km from Niamey, the capital of Niger. Adamou's Family: Safi (27) is Adamou's mother, who looks after the family. Roukaya (7) - Adamou's sister. Maria (4) - Adamou's sister. |
