Biography:

John Ruess last apeared on Broadway in Show Boat, where he played the role of Steve. Prior to Show Boat, he performed the roles of Raoul and the Phantom in the Canadian and international company of The Phantom of the Opera touring Edmonton, Anchorage, Honolulu, Singapore and Hong Kong. He was one of the five performers starring in the national tour of The World Goes 'Round, The Kander and Ebb Musical. He first appeared on Broadway in the role of Marius in Les Miserables. He went on to open the Chicago company, also appearing in the San Francisco and Baltimore productions. He was a member of the Broadway production of Falsettos, and played Marvin in the national tour. He toured with Michael Crawford in The Music of Andrew Lloyd Webber. In regional theatre, he has appeared as Che in Evita, the Wolf/Cinderella's Prince in Into the Woods, Curly in Oklahoma!, Lun Tha in The King and I, and Whizzer in Falsettos. John has also performed excerpts from West Side Story with Peter Nero and the Philadelphia Pops. He is an Iowa native and a graduate of St. Ambrose University, from which he received the Young Alumni Award for Outstanding Achievement.
