| | Biography: Hardwig Rudolz was born in the village of Brnsen, Northern Germany. His artistic ambitions started when he was very young, but his parents, who owned a large holiday farm on the Baltic, wanted him to go into a more reliable profession. He therefore took his "A" levels, then went to Hamburg University to study marine biology. But his love of the theatre proved greater than his love of fish! He broke off his university studies and enrolled at drama school. Whilst training as an actor, he also trained as a dancer, perfecting his abilities in Paris and London. He did his vocal training in Berlin and Vienna. Hardy has already enjoyed almost 25 years as a successful actor and singer. His outstanding talent for musicals was quickly spotted, and his first ensemble role in Chicago was soon followed by leading roles. His acting talent, stage presence and versatily made it possible for him to play a wide variety of characters, from the extrovert and ebullient Petruchio in Kiss me Kate to the unbending and intransigent Javert in Les Misrables and the tragic and tormented Phantom in Phantom of the Opera. His portrayal of Raoul in Phantom earned him the Radio Luxemburg "Golden Lion" award, and it was that - and his subsequent portrayal of the Phantom - that finally allowed him to emerge as one of the leading stars of the musical scene. Hardy subsequently played the role of Javert in the German Premiere of Les Misrables in Duisburg, again receiving rave reviews from the critics. This led to an invitation to reprise the role in London West End, and he thus became the first German musical star to play a leading role in a big West End production. Hardy's versatility has also enabled him to build a successful career beyond musical theatre. When not performing, he devotes himself to directing and choreography. He has also developed his own musical show, with which he tours Germany, and he is in great demand as a guest at musical concerts and galas. He has a wide experience of musical shows on television, and he has also appeared as the evil Doctor Botho Neukirch in the TV series Stadtklinik. He provided the voices for various charactors in the children's TV series Sesame Street. He also spoke and sang the role of Ramses in the legendary Disney/Spielberg cartoon film The Prince of Egypt.
