Biography:

Hugh Panaro comes to Phantom from the Broadway production of Les Miserables, in which he played Marius, a role he created in the first national company. He made his NY debut in the revival of the topical revue What's a Nice Country Like You...Doing in a State Like This? at the Actors' Playhouse. His other New York credits include I Have Found Home, Juba and Splendora. Regionally, he was Henrik in A Little Night Music, Don Baker (Butterflies Are Free), William Detweiler (How the Other Half Loves) and Jesus in Andrew Lloyd Webber's Jesus Christ Superstar. He has performed the title roles in Offenbach's Orpheus in the Underworld and Stravinsky's Mavra, as well as Fenton in Falstaff and Frederick in The Pirates of Penzance. He has also had the privilege of performing in the world premiere of Penderecki's Te Deum at Carnegie Hall. On television, Hugh has been seen on "Search for Tomorrow," among others, and appeared with the popular rap group The Fat Boys in their Swatch Watch TV commercial. He is a graduate of Temple University. Much love to Mom, Dad and Schwartz.

Movies:

Hugh is starring in Broadway Damage, a romantic comedy about two gay college graduates who move into a Greenwich Village walk-up and attempt to fulfill their dreams of acting, writing and finding love. Not rated. 110 minutes.

Bits and Pieces:

Hugh played Buddy Foster in Side Show until January 3, 1998.

Current Engagements:

After his contract with Phantom expires, Hugh will play Martin Guerre in the show's pre-Broadway tour and supposedly on Broadway after that.
