Biography:

Bengt has studied song and conducting at The Music College in Stockholm. He made his stage debut in SMDE's production of Carl Orff's opera The Moon in 1980. At Oscars he played the role as Smith in Tage Danielsson's and Lars-Johan Werle's Animalen in 1982. He attended scenskolan (the stage school) in Gothenburg between 1983 and 1984. He played Tony in West Side Story at Stockholm's Parkteater in 1984. Then he sang three years at Stora Teatern in Gothenburg where he played the title role in Candide, Papageno in The Magic Flute, Josef in Wienerblut, Figaro in Il Barbiere di Siviglia etc. In the summer of 1986 he won a contest in Vienna, Internationaler Belvedere-Wettbewerb which had 300 competitors from 36 countries. Bengt played Raoul for three years in Stockholm and stayed on in the cast as understudy for Raoul and the Phantom during the rest of the run at Oscars.
