Biography:

Mario was brought up and educated in Greece; he came to England when he was twelve, where he completed his education. He studied at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, where in 1988 he won the Maria Callas Award for Opera. He then continued his studies with Alfredo Kraus. He has enjoyed a varied career thus far, appearing as Tony in West Side Story, The Emcee in Cabaret, Robert in Company and Shelmerdine in Orlando. His work away from the musical theatre has included Edmond in King Lear, Dionyssus in The Bacchae, Ivan in The Mother, Puck in A Midsummer's Night's Dream, Piotrowski in The Deliberate Death of a Polish Priest, and he played the title role in the world premiere of Yusupov by Kit Hesketh-Harvey and James Mackonell. He appeared as Johnny in a gala performance of Coward's Sail Away, given at the Savoy Hotel in London and was thrilled to appear with Montserrat Caball and Samuel Ramey in a concert in Whitehall Palace in memeory of Dame Margot Fonteyn. His West End debut was as Marius in Les Miserables at the Palace theatre from which engagement he came to join The Phantom company.
