There are more races available to the PCs and NPCs than are typically used in the PHB, but not as many as are detailed in the DMG, and many of them are actually modified somewhat as well. The following chart shows what is available for PCs and NPCs as far as races go. Unless otherwise noted, all of these races are Medium-sized and have a base speed of 30'.

Orc Yes Yes +4 STR, -2 WIS, -2 INT, -2 CHA Darkvision. NOTE: Orcs do not suffer the light sensitivity trait described in the MM.

Typically, you would also choose your languages based on your race. For the faerytale setting, there are only three languages you really need to worry about, and everyone from Gilraeven should have access to learn them: Common North (Morraent language), Common South (Lehonti language -- not actually closely related to Common North, despite the name) and Fae. The individual races do not have individual languages in this setting.
