This month's meeting will be held at Ray Osterhaut's hangar in Windsor on Saturday, May 19th.

The food will be ready by noon and the meeting will start at 1PM. Anyone needing directions to Ray's

place should call Paul Nulton at 570-879-4627.

Ray's still not sure about fly-ins.  Land ONLY if the windsock is up!

Last month's meeting was attended by 25 members and 4 guests.  Dave Schwartz has 39 members

signed up for the year.  I noticed several long time members who aren't on the list yet.  We'll have to

foul hook 'em at the next meeting and get their money!

Dave also gave us a treasurers report.  We have a checking balance of $947.00.

Ray Osterhaut asks those people who intend to fly-in for meetings to please sign liability waivers.

These will be made available as soon as possible.

Airport availability and hangar space are the big issue.  Work is still going on to resolve the

Kirkwood situation.  Kevin Moriarity and Tony Mincolla are in the process of negotiations and hope to

have answers soon.  Paul said we also have a couple of other options concerning the airport.

Dave Thomas says he has a friend with land suitable as an airport 10 miles southwest of Kirkwood

The field is 2500 x 500 and is at 1130 feet elevation.  He and Paul will investigate the possibilities.

There are three people so far who are interested in Joe Acavino's ground school.  This course is

required if you want insurance on your plane form USUA or EAA.  Interested parties should talk to

George at 845-887-4431.

Tom Decker has several small tools and aircraft parts for sale cheap.  He has things like Cliko tools

and carb heater shrouds.

Dave Denorra is working on his wagabond.  The fuselage is on wheels and he hopes to get the

wings done this summer.

Dave Schwartz fixed his fuel gauges, he found a bad ground.  He reports he flew a Quicksilver on

floats in Florida over the winter.  He mentioned that floats make for a long takeoff roll!

Tom Decker says his two plane project with the Neuports is progressing well.

Ray Osterhaut wants to get his Pegasus together this year.

This month's safety reminder is about maintenance.  Your plane has been in mothballs for month's.

Before you take it up, change oil, check your gearcase, make sure your fuel system is clean and free

of leaks.  With the vacuum pumps on most of the ultralights, you suck gas (and air) up into the engine

instead of pushing it up under pressure with a mechanical pump.  Leaks won't show up as streams of

gasoline, they will show up as engine outs at full throttle on takeoff!!!  Check your tires, wheels and

brakes.  In short, give your plane a spring preflight and have a safer flying season.
