Our
Christmas Meeting will be at Gil and Liz Aitchison's home in North Fenton N.Y.
All wives or significant other may attend, bring a dish to pass and bring
your own chairs, as there won't be enough to go around.
After the dinner Gil's wife, Liz will invite the ladies upstairs where
they can chat while we have our meeting. It
should be a fun time for all. The
directions to Gil's are at the end of the Newsletter.
We met at John Finn's place for the November meeting.
Only 10 people could attend. George
Smith provided the food and since we were short on attendance George ended up
short by $45.75 so a check will have to be made for that amount to George. Thanks again George for supplying the goodies.
We do appreciate those who are willing to help make our meetings special.
Our Meeting started at 1 PM sharp.
The pledge of allegiance was given to a star and stripe that closely
resembled the flag.
We were fortunate to have a meeting place at all.
John single handedly fought a blaze in his shop.
We were glad to know he wasn't injured while doing so.
Thanks again John for allowing us a place to come to fellowship it was
nice and cozy inside. We didn't
have any flying take place because there were no runways available to fly in.
It was also too windy for small craft.
John showed us his aircraft, which was moved from the barn to the shop
where it will be warm to work on for the winter project.
Aviation Interest:
Gil Aitchison told us about how the fires in California burned up many
ultralights. Norm Dibble told us
about the opening of the Greene Restaurant at the airport.
Maybe we can use it for a meeting place someday especially if we buy our
food there. Just an idea. Matt Garbett was working on the new airport office in Greene
and was unable to attend the meeting.
We had our usual round table review on our experiences and latest
projects. This is the part that is
always the most fascinating when we can all share our aviation blunders and
discoveries. Our meeting was over
by 2 PM and a few didn't leave until around 3 PM.
Remember that this month is a very special month in Aviation.
It will mark 100 years of flight and the Wright flyer will be taking off
at Kiddy Hawk again. So far there
have been 2 crashes with the duplicate Wright Flyer.
Wouldn't it be something if they could leave the ground successfully....
People with thousands of hours trying to fly this old aircraft only to
find out they have to learn about wing warping which would be a totally new
concept in this day in age.
Let's have a good attendance at this next meeting and enjoy ourselves as
aviators should.
See you at the next meeting!

Mel Wightman
