Our next meeting will take place at Gil and Liz Aitchison's Home in
An important
message from Norm Dibble: Norm wants all of us and our wives to help him
celebrate his 80th birthday on the 28th of October 2006 (open house) from 2 to 5
PM. The place will be at
Everything will be pretty much the same at the Aitchison Home
except for one big thing. Our man "Gil" is now a full fledged
pilot who has achieved a license capable of giving someone else a ride.
He got his Sport Light Pilot's license which is treated very much like the
Private License in many ways. He will be going for a biannual flight
review every two years. He doesn't have to sweat the ultralight
restrictions. He can remain FAT as
longs he is safe. We need to celebrate his accomplishments and
congratulate his long awaited endeavor. He now has over 1500 hours of
ultralight flying which is enough time to have an Airline Transport License in
General Aviation. GOOD GOING GIL!! Gil went for his check ride in
Our meeting at White Birch was a complete success everyone had
their pancake breakfast before we started the meeting. The fog was pretty
heavy that morning so no one could fly in for breakfast. It cleared off in
time for the meeting which was held outside under a shade tree. Our
president Jim Croisant lead off at 11:15 AM with the Pledge of Allegiance
to the Flag. A beautiful large flag was already waving for us even though
I brought our abbreviated one along. We had 16 of us present and 6 wives.
Jim mentioned that he would like to update the website with his
camera and the many new projects that are being made.
Former ultralight pilot and member Scott Potter died in Cincinnatus,
the club sent a card and 25 dollars to his wife.
Duane and Gil went toward
Gil gave us a treasury report of $1002.00 he also told us 38 people
are paid members.
Our trips for next year were discussed to go to Harris Hill, the
There has been talk about having Christmas early this year by
having Christmas at Thanksgiving time to allow the snow birds to be with us
during this celebration. This was tabled until we get to Gil's place for
further discussion.
Harry Henderson had a slight mishap with his Fisher.
He only met to do a hop but forgot to fasten his seat belt and flipped
over while trying to fasten his belt. He was able to lick his wounds and
take a deep breath ready to go at it again. His craft is in need of repair
but at least he'll be able to fly her again when he gets her repaired and ready
to fly. I saw his hanger at White Birch and was very impressed with his
workmanship. He still has his kitten to fly while he repairs his Fisher.
What a cool guy at the age of about 83. Many would want to quit but Harry
has a deep affection for his sport and doesn't have any thoughts of quitting.
He will continue to fly. ATA GO HARRY!!
Dave Donnora flew his ultra light for around 5 hours in the
previous month and also he managed to pass the Sport Pilots Written Exam good
work Dave! You’re getting close to your SLA License. Get this out of the
way before the little one comes because after that you'll be real busy being a
dad and that is 24 - 7.
George Smith is still slaving away on his 2 place aircraft.
Paul Muhlig got his $2600 parachute but has been real busy working
on his other priorities.
Mitch Mitchell has his Affordaplane ready to go with just a few
more things to do.
Charlie Olbrich flew his craft for an hour but his tachometer went
to zero. His engine was running fine.
He wanted to fly to White Birch but it was just too foggy.
John Svegel (Charlie's Crew Chief) helped Charlie clear the end of
his runway making it longer and made some fire wood at the same time.
John Sherman is covering his ultra light with the help of Tom
Decker. Sounds like a good project! Also John had a chance to do a little
hopping with his Nuieport 11 and successfully completed the first phase of
flight on it.
Bob Johnson said, his ultralight is in the front and back yard in
foundation work.
Jim Croisant has got his ultralight together and is about ready to
test hop.
Mel Wightman had nothing to report in the flying department but is
still looking for something either in the ultralight department or
The meeting was over at around 1:15 PM -
our first Sunday Meeting at white Birch.
Your Secretary,
Mel Wightman
