                    Potato salad

                    Macaroni salad

                    Potato chips

Plastic Ware, knifes, forks and spoons

Anything else your pea picking heart desires!

To get to Gil’s from Harpursville, go west on Rt 79 to Babcock Road .  Babcock is a short road.  Bear right at the “Y”.  At the Chanango County Line the road name changes to Palmiter Rd.    Go approximately 2.2 miles.  The house is on the right.

From Rt 88, exit #3 to Rt 369 (a left turn).  Take Rt 369 to Rt 79 east.  Go past the Windy Hill Candle Factory.  Take the 2nd left turn to Babcock Rd.   Bear left at the “Y”.  Proceed as above.  See Map below.

Eleven of us showed up at Mel McKinney's home in Susquehanna Pa. Thanks to Mel for supplying his home for us to meet.  The weather was not suitable to fly because of the intermittent rain, winds, and bad ceiling in general.  It had been a very disappointing Summer for many of us.  We all spent good money on gasoline for our lawn mowers and some of the mowers actually wore out.

The meal was supplied by Jim Croisant who brought pizza, wings, soda, chips, and cake more than enough for 11 people.  Our thanks to Jim for supplying the meal for us.  We owe Gil 24 dollars from the kitty to make up the difference of the meal.  He, being the treasurer, forked over the cash before being able to compensate himself with the use of the checkbook.  Hopefully Dave Schwartz will be able to come and give Gil the business books.

Our President, Mel McKinney started the meeting with the Pledge of Allegiance To The Flag at 4 PM.

We had our round table review starting off with Tom Decker who made a motion to change the time of the meeting to 12 noon it was quickly 2nd by Jim Croisant.  Hopefully we will get Tom Hettig and others to join in with us again.  Tom Decker also has ideas on building an ultra-light that would be in-expensive. He said he would bring in some plans at the next meeting and maybe we would get more people involved.  This would make it possible for others to buy and build more cheaply with the help of Tom's supervision.   Sounds great Tom, when do we start?

Lance Bunker said, that Sam Siegler from Afton , had passed away. He had owned a low wing Fisher.  Lance Bunker is going to Wick's Airport to get a MX Quick Silver It has a 430 Kayuna.

Tom Hettig had sold his Cobra and has an interest in boats.

Harry Henderson put his engine back in his plane and had 3 forced field landings until he got his carburetor adjusted correctly.   Now this sounds like the Magnificent Men and their Flying Machines.  Good going Harry!

Gil put mud flaps on his aircraft because the ground was so wet.  He also put in 50 hours flying time in this year in his Hawk.

Duane Ross also flew approximately 50 hours this year in his Hawk.

Huck Littlejohn had suffered a stroke. Huck owns a Colt, Dave Pender's old airplane. We hope he is doing well.  I remember I had my eye on this ship when Dave owned it but Dave wasn't ready to sell it at the time.

George Smith has been working on his Savanah and has been flying his Quick Silver.

Jim Croisant had a balloon ride and said it was very enjoyable; the pilot was his son-in-law Mike Rogers.  He also got good pictures of Rupert from the Survivor show.

I mentioned about the lawn mowing this Summer and I did get a chance to fly last Sunday in a Colt. I flew over to Harpursville, and Nineveh , where I was brought up on a dairy farm.  The farm next door belongs to Johnny Hart the famous cartoonist and comic paper writer of the Wizard of Id and others.  I flew over his home and observed Pickerel Pond and the tennis courts and his studio.  I saw his boat house and someone was swimming off his floating dock.  He also had a couple of guys playing with his golf carts. So there was a reconnaissance flight over the Hart residence.

Dave Thomas was offered to fly a J-3 Kitten but he had second thoughts about flying someone else's ship. Dave also offered to have us for September's meeting but he felt that he may not be able to accommodate because of possible rain.  Our alternate was Gil's place.

Our gang was small but we had a good time, lots to eat and we had a chance to share old times and experiences of yesterdays flying.

Our meeting was over at 5:51 PM.

        Your Secretary,

            Mel Wightman
