Our next meeting will take place at Harris Hill Glider Port in Elmira , NY . on the 16th of August the third Saturday of the month.  We are all to meet at Denny's on Front Street by 9AM for breakfast and then head for Harris Hill and we'll probably be there by noon.  We'll have enough time to tour the museum and maybe observe some flying by some of our own guys.

Jim checked the web site for Harris Hill it looks like the group (10 or more) rates are $5.50 Adults and $ 5.00 for seniors 60+. They need advanced notice for guided group tours (20 or more).  However, we all need to be together in a group when getting the tickets --  Jim made a call to the museum and set it up.  They are open 10:00 to 5:00. After meeting at Denny's at 9:00 and having breakfast it'll be 11:30 - 12:00 before we arrive I would think -- do the museum around 1:00??? Rides are$ 70 in a Schweitzer 2-33 (trainer) or $80 in a Schleicher ASK-21 high-performance sailplane on a first come first serve bases. The length of a ride is 15 - 20 minutes not including prep time. They can be bought in advance by calling (607) 734-3128 should anyone want to take a ride.

So far we only know of 1 guy who has a van and can take 7 people and that is our president Jim Croisant.  We need more volunteers and we need to know who will be riding with whom, so we can take a roll call when we get there.   Please send me an e-mail [email protected] or give me a call on  607-648-9028.

Our July meeting took place at Gil and Liz's home but they were not able to be there themselves, Gil and Liz had to be at her brother's funeral.  We were thinking about cancelling the meeting but it had already gone too far along and only had two days to try and contact everyone.  We knew we would probably miss someone if we tried to cancel at the last minute.  Allan and Duane went to a wedding.  Allen's son was married so we went from one extreme to another.  However we did have 16 come out and our cook was Dan Fiske, he did a fine job with sausage, hamburgers and a salad put together by his daughter.  So we first thank Gil and Liz for sharing their home with the club and we thank Dan Fiske for his outstanding meal.

Our meeting started at 1:30 PM.  Gil had a nice big American flag of our country spread across the back of the hanger and we promptly gave her our respect.

Jim Croisant got the treasurers report from Matt Garbett.  We have a balance of $1474.52  and  64 dollars in loose change.

Our Link Airport meeting was a huge success and plans are being made for putting it on again next time.

Greene Airport Restaurant has opened again, so this means we have a chance to make this another place to go for a meeting.

It was thought that Baron's may not be opened for our third Saturday get together but I asked one of the waitresses there the other night and I think the new owner will accommodate us ok.  We may have a possible fly in at Greene, Matt Garbett will check with Marcel.

A swap meeting was mentioned but it was not yet determined just where it will take place at this time.

Jim Asked if we should continue with the chopper raffle for the attendance getter - all agreed!

The same trustees were voted in again, George Smith, Gil Aitchison and Paul Muhlig.

John Torta - is working on his Flight Star he plans on replacing the windshield.  He's also working on his Micro-Mong.  It is a little bi-plane with a Cuyuna engine and is a tail dragger.

George Smith is now at Downsville Airport he has been doing some taxing around.  His Savannah is on going.

Matt Garbett bought a C-150 he figures 5 gals per hour.  He sold his Hawk to Jim Leonard.

This means Jim Leonard's Hawk is now for sale for around 6 K for a club member and 6,500 for a non member outside the club.  It is the same craft that was at Link Field, a nice clean red Hawk.

Paul Muhlig said Gil and Duane flew it and Paul has been doing some taxi time to get familiar.  He's been working on a new windshield and instrument panel.  He's also now located in Downsville Airport .

Tom Parkhurst been flying in Norwich and his Kolb is in a hanger in Norwich .  He has put 20 hours in his Kolb and has been flying a Piper Warrior.

Lance Bunker is not flying but is building a house.

Dan Fiske did a little taxi work.  He also put in new plugs in his 447 Rotax put .015 gap setting on the plugs.  His air cleaner is loose on the carburetor.  He hasn't been able to work on it as much as he has wanted to.

Frank Snyder hasn't been flying much.

Todd Capwell will soon solo the family car.

Art Capwell has been flying and enjoying every bit of it.  He also has shared some experiences on hill landings.

Jim Fitzsimmons burned up 35 gals. of gasoline flying his Quicksilver for 12 hours.

Pete Fish wrecked another one he has a bunch of parts so he'll be able to build another one soon.

Tom Boothuser has been busy doing other things, his plane is ready to paint.  He’s replacing his mobile home and someone stole his air compressor.

Jim Croisant mowed lawn and pulled weeds and doing a lot of running around.  He hadn't had the time to work on his plane.

Mel Wightman just got back from traveling in the West  spent two weeks in Colorado, Nevada, Arizona, New Mexico, and Utah saw a lot of desert and now really appreciates the green grass and trees of home.

Meeting was adjourned at 2:39 PM.

    Your Secretary,

        Mel Wightman
