The next Ultralight meeting will be at Gil and Liz Aitchison's place in North Fenton Area. The food will be brought in by Jim Croisant who volunteered at the last moment. Thanks to Gil we will have a grill to put our hot dogs and hamburgs' on. The meeting will be held the third Saturday of the month as usual this time it will be May 20th at around noon.
The gang showed up at around 11:30. Everyone ordered their food and received excellent service as usual. We had a pretty good turn out; 13 guys showed up for the luncheon.
The meeting started at around 1:30 and the pledge of allegiance to our flag was given.
Some announcements were made: one was that airport day will be the 30th of June and the 1st of July; that will be Friday evening and all day Saturday. They say we will have a static display and some aerobatics but no Blue Angels or Thunderbirds this year. There will be fireworks on display (I believe Friday night). Dennis Moulton is looking for volunteers to help out. Volunteers will receive two free passes for family or friends, lunch and an air show tee shirt. Also the Fagan Flyers are putting on a flea market on the 21st of May at the
Dave Donnora has an ultralight for sale priced at $8,000. It is an Aerolite 103, a good little ship. The one that hopped over coconut trees and landed in a coconut field. He will be working on his Quicksilver GT 400. Dave also said, if we want a meeting at Zaverton's Field the FBO can supply us with a fly-in lunch. George Smith suggested we have a flea market and bring in all our aircraft parts to sell at Zaverton's.
Gil gave a treasures' report and said, we have 36 paid members and as of now we have $1,158.60 in the treasury. Gil also has taken his skies off and put his mudflaps on and has been flying with Duane Ross.
Duane Ross has been flying with Gil and got down to Florida for the Sun and Fun but said, there wasn't much activity with ultralights; lots of empty spots on the field.
Paul Nulton did some business in
Jim Croisant- had been laid up in his Archie Bunker chair for 5 days and 5 nights. He is just now getting back to his normal activities. He'll be flying his Phantom before you know it; soon he hopes - this Summer.
Lou Palombo said on May 18th he will check on a 2 seat sport helicopter. I imagine he will fill us in on a complete report at the next meeting. Lou also said, that Jerry Pressler said to say hello!! Lou has refurbished cell phones for 30 dollars and the cost is $2.50 per month. By a card from Verizon for the calls.
Allen Huntley has been up twice and right now has his muffler off getting it painted. He is selling his C-150 for 18K continental engine. He has 350 hours on his C-150 probably since major overhaul.
Paul Muhlig has been working on his Hawk. He has a set of doors to put on and he
put up a new wind sock at
George Smith had run his 912S Rotax engine.
He has a analog instrument panel. He said, he took the engine up to
2000 rpm's and just about blew himself away while working on his
Charles Olbrich has been tinkering around the house on little jobs. He has been working on the windshield on his CGS Hawk. He wants to study and understand the rules and regs for the fat ultralights. He put on new fuel lines and Obrian brakes. He says they aren't too good - they melt with crow hops.
Charles's crew chief John Svegl said, he didn't get the newsletter and didn't have any news to give us. I think we got that taken care of between Tom Lewis and myself. Please let us know if you get this one ok....
Lance Bunker says he is still sitting on a bunch of parts he will have for the flea market when we decide to have one. He has lots of airplane parts. He needs to check out his 5 Cuyuna engines to see if they are ok.
Mel Wightman- Is still looking to see what is available and safe to fly. Could lean towads the LSA pretty easily.
