Our next meeting will be on the 21st of Feb (the third Saturday) at Baron's
There were 15 of us that were able to come for the last gathering. The meal was taken care of and then we got into the meeting and started off by saluting to the flag of our country.
Gil Aitchison gave the treasurer's report which is $1160.00 and a $100.00 in cash.
We talked about the Repair Course for our aircraft and about 9 guys signed up with interest. The (holes in the program) we see are the fact that most of us will not be able to re-license our aircraft but we will be able to understand some repairs that may have to be made and of course it would have to be signed off by an A&E.
John Torta was able to burn off a CD to show some of the meetings in the past. I was able to see some of the pictures but unable to see the motion pictures.
Broome Airshow will take place on the 4th and 5th of July, we still have to decide if we want to forge ahead and have an exhibit.
We talked about the Intrepid
Aircraft Carrier
in New
York City. We could get a bus trip to the intrepid and then stay
over night in the carrier and go through the submarine the next day.
The
Art Capwell was able to start his engine on his craft for a while to lubricate the parts.
Gil Aitchison flew an hour on January 3rd and wants to get his 2 place craft to the barn soon.
Dan Fiske has been busy thawing pipes and trying to keep warm.
Matt Garbett worked on his hanger doors cleaning the snow out so he could pull his bird out and crank his engine. He decided it was easier to pull the prop through a few times instead. He said, he got on to a snow drift with the car and got hung up and stuck for a time before he could get out.
Matt also said, the yellow Taylor Craft is for sale that belonged to Dick Wilson 35K.
John Torta is busy working on his Flight Star. He found out why it wouldn't start very well, no fuel filter, the carb was really dirty. He got the Flight Star from Gary Preston.
Mel Wightman has been busy thawing out his water lines to the barn for his horses.
George Fitzpatrick had medically grounded himself from flying the J-3 in
December. He did fly with Guy to
Pete Fish wasn't able to do anything in the line of flying this month.
Lou Palombo hasn't been able to do anything until his shoulder gets better.
Tom Parkhurst got his FOI passed ok for Instructor for LSA. This was taken on the computer. His plan is to have his Instructor rating by summer. He will work in Malone for the rating.
Allen Huntley said, it was too cold to fly.
Duane Ross started his engine in the hanger, (hanger flying).
Jim Croisant hasn't done anything. He bought an RC chopper for his grandson and has a lot of practice flying that. He has replaced a few rotor blades so far in his experiences to get the right technique. He figures his grandson will probably show him up so he has been doing a lot of practicing.
