Our next Meeting will take place at BARON'S INN on the 3rd Saturday of the month which is February 16th at 12 Noon.

We had a total of 21 People show for the January meeting.  Our meals were served and as usual everyone was satisfied.   We had another new member come with Mitch Mitchell.  His name is Richard Stram [email protected] his residence is 508 Murray Hill Road phone 607-729-6698.   He is a very good friend of my Flight Doctor, Keith Nichols, who resides in Owego , New York .  So if any of you need a Flight Physical get set up with Keith.  I'll be seeing him myself this year.  So at this time we welcome Richard Stram as a new member of our club.  Welcome aboard!

Our President, Jim Croisant, got us under way with the flag of our country.

Next our Treasurer, Gil Aitchison, gave us a report of $1,466 and some change of around 100 dollars.

            Old Business:  None

New Business: tour the air museum at Harris Hill and also observe glider rides.  This will probably take place this summer.

We need a list of Flight Instructors for SLA .  BEI's are no longer so there will be no more Flight Instructor's for Ultralights.  Some were saying, " this now takes us bake to the 1980's".  Stephen and Charlie Gay are Flight Instructor's at Skyhaven Airport in Pennsylvania .  This airport is located another 10 miles South of Husky Haven.

Jim Dennis came and got re-acquainted and renewed his dues and is now a active member again.

Paul Muhlig bought a new Tachometer.

George Smith has been doing some wiring on his craft.

Mitch Mitchell has some work to do on his Afford-A-Plane.

Allen Huntley has been doing mostly farm work and has been doing some flying on the Hawk.

Matt Garbett said his airplane was lonely so he went over and gave it a hug; he ran it for a bit but that was it - no flying.

Lou Palombo went to Texas Gyro Copter.  He’s thinking about buying one and they said, they can help him build it.

Jim Leonard is going for his SLA with Jim Rizzo at Broome County Airport .  He needs a passport or ID photo to start.  Jim also got his Hawk N numbered and inspected.  He went to the Panama in November and had the occasion to see Noreaga's (the former drug lord) airport.  His strip was 500 feet wide and 2 miles long.

Duane Ross got out a couple of times but the ground is too soft.

Tom Botheuser has been working on his Mini Max.

Pete Fish saw Paul Nulton and has been down to Giffin Field to see if he could fly his MX Quicksilver there.

Dan Fiske wants to build a trailer so he can bring his craft home from Ray Osterhouts hanger.  He talked about the drones today utilized by our Airforce to destroy the enemy.  The Predator is heavily equipped with ammunition and missiles.

Gil Aitchison put his skis on his Hawk.  The T-Bird engine has been mounted, had his muffler welded, his compass has been ordered, all his switches are mounted overhead.  He has a lot of garage time flights in it so far and there were too many things to list that have been done.

Rich Stram hasn't any flight experience but is very interested in getting started; he has flown with Keith Nichols and enjoyed it.

Art Capwell hasn't done too much from the last time he was here, his son Todd 15 had to go swimming so he wasn't able to come at the meeting.

Al Osterhout has been flying his RC Helicopter and has been having a blast with that.  He plans on going to Fla. with Mel McKinney to see his relation, John Mooney, the father of ultralights.  He also he wants to look at a few ultralights to get some ideas.

Mel McKinney sold his Woody Pusher in November.  It went to Ohio .  He now has no plane to fly.  He has to move his hanger to higher ground.  He said that his nephew Dave's plane is now well and ready to fly.  The last thing is the FEMA buy out of his home that he lost in the flood.  He will have lease rights on the land but his cottage will have to be destroyed.  He will sadly miss his cottage because he got his own timber to build it all by hand.  Lots of memories will vanish....

Richard Heaney has implant defibulator implanted in his chest.  He also renewed his membership so he is now an active member again.

Mel Wightman shared his plastic FAA Licenses  that he was able to get from the FAA with his Social Security numbers off.  The FAA wants everyone to get these plastic card licenses to take the place of their paper license.  So get it now and not have to wait so long for it when the rush is on.   Please refer to the info below for the plastic licenses.

HAVE YOU SWITCHED FROM PAPER TO PLASTIC?
The FAA is reviewing comments on a proposal that would require pilots to replace their paper pilot certificates with tamper-resistant plastic certificates. The final rule is expected to be released early next year, and it's anticipated that pilots will have two years to make the change. Beat the rush by requesting a plastic pilot certificate online. You should keep your paper certificate, with your original issuance date, for your records, because your plastic certificate will have a new issue date. Ordering a new certificate costs $2, but if you want the FAA to remove your Social Security number from the certificate or its records, you can get a plastic certificate for free

Jim Croisant went to the hanger and gave his craft a hug.   It was lonely.  Jim has a big job getting his craft out because there are two Cessna 172's ahead of him.   He plans on getting airborne this spring.

Jim Fitzsimmons has been reading a lot about flying and his wife gave him $1000.00 to go get some flying lessons
