| Leroy is working a Thanksgiving night shift as Security guard on campus. He hears glass breaking and investigates. At the library he see's evidence of a break-in, or break-out - as the glass is shattered from the inside. He calls his supervisor, who in turn informs the police and heads over to check on the situation. It seems that the other members of the group are also having a busy night. Just one building over from the library, Astrid is disturbed to find a bloody, unconcious Josh lying outside her dorm room. She quickliy calls 911 and an ambulance is sent out. Meanwhile, Stephanie and Nick are notified of another slasher murder. While working the case, Steph receives a call about Josh. She can't leave the crime scene, so she tells Leroy to keep her informed. Later, she hears over the radio about a murder at the Campus library. She calls Astrid to find out what's happening. Astrid tells her that Josh has been injured, but nothing life threatening. The police have been by for a statement and Steph tells Josh to stick with his story and not to change anything. She then get permission from Nick to check up on Josh. Astrid playes the role of the worried boyfriend, but is still very hurt and mad at Josh about his response to her revelation about being half demon. He attempts to explain why he has problems with demons, explaining how he discovered the undeniable existence of demonic activity on Earth while on a 'ghost-hunt" in Savannah. He had found a portal and, curiosity getting the better of him, he went through. Coming out in a different realm or dimension. While there he ran across some demons and was chased back to the portal. He managed to dive through the portal as it was closing, but one of the demons didn't make it. He was cut in two as the portal closed on him. And often since then, Josh has felt a presence trying to find him. He goes on to explain that this is why he has became obsessed with learning about and fighting demons. He tells Astrid that he is sorry, and wants to continue their relationship, that he thinks he can get passed his mistrust of demons for her sake. Astrid isn't having any of it. She isn't ready to forgive him and leaves the hospital with Stephanie. Leroy offers to give Josh a ride home, but Josh prefers to walk. Giving himself a chance to think about things. Over night, Stephanie and Leroy both discover that a murder happened at the library. A second security guard on duty that night was killed and Josh is the only suspect. Overwhealming evidence puts him at the scene. Including a security video, his blood on the shattered window and even worse, the victims blood on him. The next day Josh heads to the police station to give a complete statement. He is unaware of the murder case being piled aganist him. Steph, even though she is also mad at Josh for his actions at the Thanksgiving dinner, takes the liberty of having a lawyer friend of hers meet Josh at the station, before he talks to a detective. The next few weeks crawl by for Josh. The assistant district attorney, Mr Johnson, is building a case against him, and Astrid is barely speaking to him. Their only dealings with each other involve reasearch, demonic and scholarly. Stephanie is brought into Captain Mitchells office and told that with only one semester left toward her Masters degree, she was now eligible to start her detective training. Shortly before Christmas, Josh is ordered to appear before a Grand Jury. However, it seems that luck hasn't completely given up on Josh. Mr. Johnson doesn't have enough evidence for the jury to agree to a formal hearing. Josh is free to go. Stephanie realizes that Mr. Johnson could have pushed the case much harder, but didn't seem too interested. Perhaps he's a friend? |
