Sam Davis
Sam is - or, was - a sergeant for the Murfreesboro Police Department.

Having been a police officer for over 30 years, and before that, a Vietnam vet, Sam thought that he had seen it all. All that changed when he transfered to Murfreesboro ten years ago. Thinking that a quite town in Tennessee was a good place to put in a few final years before retirement, it wasn't long before Sam realized that there was something going on - just under the surface. A rational man, however, Sam was able
to ignore it even then for several years. Until one night when he was attacked by a giant insect!
Pulling a car over with a busted taillight, Sam was doing something he had done thousands of times before. In fact, he knew the driver and was planning to only give her a warning, when suddenly, he was grabbed and taken for a flight! Sam had enough survival instincts to realize that the creature was trying to bore it's way into his back and attempt an escape. Pulling out his gun, Sam emptied the clip into the creature. More startled than scared, the creature let go and Sam fell quite a distance, but survived.
Finally unable to ignore the supernatural, all the half glimpsed sightings and odd cases he'd worked over the years came rushing in on him. Something snapped! Sam didn't go back to work. He fled to his cabin in the woods and started preparing to fight the Evil he suddenly knew was all around him.
Sam started stockpiling weapons and making traps. Soon enough, Sam meet some strange creatures. He managed to kill several, but eventually jumped the wrong thing.
Sam discovered a large Indian, and somehow came to the conclusion that he was a Werebear (or werewolf - Sam wasn't quite sure). Sam had already cast some silver bullets and managed to get a silver dagger. Thinking himself prepared, Sam ambushed him! For what good it did him. The Indian, Jim Panahoc, knew Sam was stalking him and bested the former soldier quite easily. The problem was, he wasn't sure what to do with him.
Sam's last partner, Stephanie Branch was sent to find him. After checking with his wife and a local gunstore, Stephanie headed to the cabin. At first she was unable to find him, but then Jim came to the cabin and handed him over. Trussed up in his own ropes.
Stephanie was able to calm Sam down and he agreed to go back to the Boro. When he arrived at the police station, he promptly quit. With few options, The Captain managed to file the papers as a leave of absence.
Sam then went home to his wife and informed her that he had some unfinished business and would be gone for awhile. Having become used to him being gone for long periods of time, she took the news stoicily, and Sam went back to his cabin. Hopefully in a little better frame of mind. He told Stephanie that perhaps Jim could teach him a few things and to not worry about him. Perhaps realizing that she too knew of the weirdness, his last words to her at the time was for her to keep up the good fight and watch the shadows.
Since then Sam has indeed received training from Jim and is now in the best shape of his life. He regularly patrols the woods and fights demons. He has even helped the Boro Heroes a time or two.
During the Spring of 2006, Sam and Jim became aware thet the Hellmouth seal was being breached. Jim needed to destroy the big toad demon that was stuck in the Hellmouth before it escaped. Although a bit shaky on the whole mysticism part of it, Sam knew the Good fight when he heard it and agreed to do whatever it took to give Jim the time to complete his magic spell.
When they arrived they realized that the odds were even worse than they feared. At first, Sam hid behind a wall with Jim and watched, but a few minutes later a werewolf came through a portal and started attacking the vamps and wendigo guards. When Steph and that big jock Leroy arrived and lit into the group Sam started to feel a littlr better about the odds and joined in the fight.
The group did pretty good. Sam held his own pretty well, until the wendigo realized where Jim was and what he was doing. During a rushed attack, Sam was injured. Trying to get to his feet, Sam was looking right at Jim when he was shot. Sam feared the worst and was frustrated that he couldn't help, but the blond college chick, Astrid, saved the day. She sacrificed her life to destroy the big toad.
Sam attended Jim's funeral with his last partner, Stephanie (another Cherokee) and the other survivors.
Not sure what to do with his life anymore, Sam has agreed to a job interview with a lady in Nashville who's opening some sort of Occult Museum. She said she wanted someone with actual occult experiance as Head of Security. Hmm, sounds interesting. . .
