Ezekiel "Zeke", "Gramps" McCoy (Earnest Borgnine) - Paternal Grandfather; a powerful wizard. Has been estranged from his son, Jed, for several years. He has finally managed to get Jed to allow Gabe to attend a Wizarding Academy. Over the years he would visit Gabe and tell him �talltales� about the wizarding world - his way of teaching Gabe the truth. |

Jedidiah "Jed" Starkweather (Lance Henrickson) - Father; is NOT a wizard. The power didn�t develop in him, only in his brother. For many years he was resentful of this and had little to do with his family. With the death of his mother and brother, Jed changed his last name to his mothers - Starkweather - and has done all he can to raise Gabe as a �normal� child. Recently, his father, Ezekiel, has come to arrange for Gabe to attend a Magic school. Jed fought against it, but Ezekiel's argument about Gabe being in more danger without magic has finally swayed him - reluctantly he has agreed. Basically a good man, he is afraid for his son. |

Laurel (Lauren Graham) - Mother; Unaware of the wizards in her husbands family. She likes Zeke, thinking him an eccentric but loving grandfather for Gabe. She worries for Jed, wishing he and Zeke would make up. She doesn�t realize the entire picture, but wants what is best for her family. She thinks Zeke may secretly be wealthy and is paying for Gabe to go to a prestigious private school. This is not entirely false, while the school doesn�t actually cost anything to attend; Zeke is wealthy and paying for all the related expenses. |

Kaya Starkweather McCoy (Tantoo Cardinal) - Paternal Grandmother (deceased); Kaya was a Cherokee Medicine Woman. While not a member of an official wizarding organization, she was gifted in certain aspects of the magical arts, especially regarding magical creatures. She was killed trying to protect her oldest son, Josiah, from Voldamort's Death Eaters. |

Josiah "Uncle Joe" McCoy (James Wood) - Uncle (deceased); Older son of Zeke and Kaya. Brother to Jed and uncle to Gabe. Josiah was an Auror during the time of Voldemort. He was killed by the Death Eaters. Gabe only Vaguely remembers his Uncle. Josiah has become a ghost and has been watching over Gabe from hiding. |
