| Murfreesboro Police Captain Dwight Mitchell has lived in Middle Tennessee almost all his life - except for a stint in Vietnam, where he received a purple heart and a brief stint as a police detective in Philidelphia. Raised in Murfreesboro, Dwight had a pretty decent childhood - or as decent as a black kid living in the south of the 50's and 60's could have. Part of a big family and instilled with traditional family values, Dwight enjoyed his childhood and served his country well in Vietnam as a Military Police. Coming home from the war after being injured, Dwight became interested in police work on a local level and applied for the Nashville Police Academy. At the academy he meet and befriended a Native American classmate named Richard Branch. After graduating, he worked for a few years in Nashville before being promoted to detective. After his promotion, he was offered a position in Philidelphia with better pay. Believing |

| this to be a more prestiges position, Dwight took the job. However, it wasn't long before he started to miss his roots and after a couple of years he moved back to Tennessee. Taking a job as a basic detective in Murfreesboro in the early 80's, Dwight has remained on the force ever since. Working his way up the chain of command, Dwight has worked in each Investigation division of the M.P.D. spending most of his time in Robbery/Homicide making Lieutenant in the early 90's and making Captain and being placed in charge of his precinct in 2000. |
