This
is
the same storm... and it's definitely powerful... Look in the upper
right corner... and you'll see that I was rained on in the process of
getting this shot.
Some
might wonder about the safety of photographing storms while
driving...
Fact
is... it CAN be dangerous if you're not putting your full attention
on driving.
The
trick I use, to assure I've got my full attention on the road, is to
keep my hand on the wheel, and eyes on the road... When I see
something that MIGHT make a good picture, assuming traffic and safety
permits... I lift the camera up in my free hand, and WITHOUT AIMING
IT, I shoot the picture, one handed. I don't look through the camera
at ALL... I just hold it up and shoot and hope for the best.
While
I gamble on not getting a good picture... that's fine... a bad
picture doesn't cost anything... I just delete it from the digital camera...
A
bad wreck, (and there's no other KIND of wreck to have... they're
all bad), however, costs money and can cost someone their life... so
the primary job in a 'storm chase' is ALWAYS to safety... storms come
and go... and there will ALWAYS be another one...
HOWEVER...
we only have ONE life... and it's stupid to waste it in the name of
getting 'the perfect shot'.
