lusture  test
mud construction - testing soil - field tests - lusture test
procedure
  • Make ball out of wet soil.
  • Cut the ball with sharp knife.
  • Observer it while cutting for the strength required and the friction with the knife.
Interpretation
  • If the strength required is more then soil has more sand and if less then it has more clay.
  • If there is more friction with knife then it has more sand and if then than it has more clay.
  • If the cut surface is dull then it has more silt and if the surface is shiny then it has more clay.
