TAROT AND RUNES
TAROT
The Tarot became popular in Europe in the fourteenth century as a card game. Romanies however, used it as a form of divination. Now it is readily available for purchase and widely used.
The deck is made up from 78 cards which are split into two groups, The Major Arcana and The Minor Arcana.


The Major Arcana

This consists of 22 cards:
0. The Fool
11. Justice
1. The Magician
12. The Hanged Man
2. The High Priestess
13. Death
3. The Empress
14. Temperance
4. The Emperor
15. The Devil
5. The Hierophant
16. The Tower
6. The Lovers
17. The Star
7. The Chariot
18. The Moon
8. Strength
19. The Sun
9. The Hermit
20. Judgment
10. The Wheel of Fortune
21. The World
NBThe names of some of these cards will vary depending on the deck you use.
The Major Arcana deals with deep, spiritual and psychological issues as well as concrete changes.


The Minor Arcana

The remainder of the cards belong to the Minor Arcana. This is split into four suits, each representing an element (again, the suit names may vary slightly).
Wands
Fire
Inspiration and Creativity
Swords
Air
Mental energy, strife and turmoil
Pentacles (coins)
Earth
Material and Financial issues
Cups
Water
Emotions and problems associated with the heart (i.e. love etc?)
Each of these suits are then divided into two sections, the numbered cards and the court cards.

Partnerships
Three
making secure, strengthening
Four
Foundation, Stability
Five
Competition, Instability
Six
Creative Dreams, Success
Seven
success against opposition, unexpected change
Eight
movement

Contentment, Great Loss or Anxiety

The Minor Arcana deals with everyday events.

The Court Cards are more complex, I will try and get these added as soon as possible (sorry)
