He has been the Club starter on Saturday mornings and Championship Carnivals for the past 10 years. He received his NSW Swimming Association Timekeeping Qualifications in 2002.
Richard won the Men's Veteran Trophy in 1994/95 and has completed the Swimathon 10 times.
