oynamak -- to dance
Not much has happened in the past 2 days. Hande and Mustafa left for Ýstanbul, Aslý returned from Ýzmir after getting very little done on her visa application, and I spent a lot of time lazing about either at home or at the beach. (Lucky me.) However, the past 3 days have had several highlights, although you could relaly only call one of the things I did the past 3 days a highlight. So, here's what happened, in order of least exciting while still worth mentioning to most exciting.
(1) Sent off another email to mom, along with a letter to Poppa John in hopes that he'll feel a little better with some word from me (which I think he will.)
(2) Started practicing viola again, and realized the depths to which I suck.
(3) Went to see Sultans of the Dance whith Yeþim at Ephesus, which was an incredible performance. We had VÝP seats, and sat really close to the stage and could see everything. It was wonderful. The show was so awesome I can't even adequately describe it. But it made me wish doubly that I could dance well. And it also made me really want to learn to belly dance like She the Wicked. So. Cool.
We took a bus from Çeþme to Efes, which took about two hours through some gorgeous, California/Texas/Italy-like mountains and farmland. The sun had just set as we reached the ampitheatre at Efes. I joked after sitting down that I knew why it had been abandoned for nigh on 1500 years: the seats were blasted uncomfortable. But it was worth enduring for the ancient, electric setting and the positively magnificent performance. Tonight, going to E-café again and maybe out. Not much otherwise.
