In 1610 three headmaster-builders from Enna, Gianguzzo, Inglese e Cal, began the works, which lasted for fifty years. It still represents a stately building, quite amazing for a rural village recently founded. It has a square plan with three elevations. Besides it has a wide courtyard with some tall bastions which overlooks the southern part of old village. In nineteenth century Count Li Destri bought it and since then it has often damaged both inside and in the faade, while fifty years ago a collapse has irremediably destroyed the east wing, which has been rebuilt. The mannerist portal is like the one the Prince had in Palermo, in that building which, nowadays, is the seat of the foundation LauroChiazzese. |
