We are living where the action is, and we wish that you were here too.

This weekend, the Young People's Groups from several of our churches held a fellowship/business meeting with Mt. Zion Church at Sabancuy, about 3 to 4 hours from here.   They had two purposes.
First to conduct their annual business meeting, and second to do evangelistic work around the Mt. Zion Church area.

They left Campeche about noon on Friday.  After arriving at Mt. Zion Church, they did some general repairs to the building, had supper,  and settled down for the night.  From what I hear, most of them did not ever get settled down at all.  I think it must have turned into an all-night prayer meeting and fellowship-get-together.

After breakfast on Saturday morning,  they divided into groups.  Some of them took 400 New Testaments  (each containing 3 Gospel tracts and a printed invitation) and distributed them ( house to house ) around over the church area.

Others stayed at the church to receive all visitors.  Some handed out used clothing.  Some nurses gave people a general check-up.  The pastor of Macedonia Church cut hair for about 40 people during the entire event.   Some prepared the meals.  Everyone ate.  Some of the boys stood out in the road and witnessed to everyone passing by.  All of the local people to attend also received a personal witness about Jesus and some were led to know Him as Saviour.

They had about 80 local people to come out for the Saturday evening service even though there have been only occasional services for several months.  Almost all of the local people who attended were demanding a pastor.    Everyone wanted to know more.   -- One man had already come to me last Wednesday telling me that he wanted help in leaving the bottle and in turning to Jesus.

During the evening service, things became so emotional that one of our young preachers, Manuel
Medina and wife, Candi, just walked up in front and told that God was calling them to that church.  They were married a year ago in December.  He teaches school in Carmen City out on Carmen Island, and the two of them will be finishing our seminary in May.  When the rest of the crowd left for home at about ten-thirty Saturday night, Manuel and Candi stayed on at the church to be ready for Sunday school this morning.

But that is not all.  Another young couple, Julián and Rosa Linda, whom I married about five years ago, also walked up in front.  They have two little boys.  They testified that God had called them to work with Rose of Sharon Church, up in Chekubul, about 30 miles farther away.   They did not return home either.  It is not clear whether they spent the night in Sabancuy in order to go up to their mission the next morning, or if they just walked out after the evening service to find a way to get to Chekubul.  They had never been to Chekubul and, of course, did not know just where they were going.  Almost like Abraham when he left home to follow God's bidding.  God called, and they answered.  Doesn't that sound wonderful?

Our own young people returned home at about 2:00 AM on Sunday morning.  All were still running a spiritual "high", but they managed to settle down for the rest of the night.  Then, on to Sunday School his morning.

Although I had planned to take all of our own young people in our bus, I was unable to go.  Several things hindered.  One is that Louise had to leave at 3:00 AM on Saturday morning to take our visitors back to the Merida airport.  Anyway, I had to help keep house during those two days.  Just stayed by the stuff, I guess, and prayed a little along the way.

Hope you have a nice day.       Bro. Noel Edwards
