| COST: 5 Credits RATINGS: Hit Die d8(DEF 2), MV 1, WGT 1 SPECIAL ABILITIES: First-Strike SPECIAL RESTRICTIONS: Defense Only, Hits Air Units Only This is the cheapest form of anti-air defense for a land-zone. It's a must for low-stage cities or for protecting the player's capital. At a cost of 5, it's the third lease expensive unit, but very weak overall. They do hit incoming air 25% of the time. On defense, it hits with a combat roll of a 1 or a 2 on a d8. One of it's real advantages is the first-strike against enemy aircraft and helicopters passing through or attacking. This means that during the initial combat, air units are destroyed on a successful "hit" roll; before the can attack, unload troops or bomb. Anti-air artillery is only used for defense. It is unable to hit land- or naval-units at all. For a complete anti-air defensive solution, combine with surface-to-air missile launchers (SAM) and jet aircraft (JET) in the same zones as well as corvettes (CRV) in adjacent sea-zones. |
