Benjamin Franklin
Franklin was one of the few men whom
in which I admire, He was a very virtuous man he even went as far as to
make a list of virtues. Franklin was a man who believed that a person can
accomplish anything that he or she put their minds to regardless of where
he or she was born, raised and even to the amount of money that the persons
family had. Franklin was always in order because when it came time
for him to pick up and leave to another city he did not want to face the
last minute rush. Persistence is the word that would best describe Franklin
, what ever he wanted he always went for it regardless of what he had to
do because he believed that it was meant to be for him to have it. When
Franklin set out to find him a job with some printing company he did it
at a very young age and this showed several important people that if he
was able to take a journey al alone then he was the man for the job regardless
of his young age.
Where ever Franklin went he always
had his clothes, papers, and other such belongings in order for the
simple fact that he believed that a man of such exterior should have an
excellent interior also. Franklin traveled and went many new places and
for every new place and even his business he had an allotted time for each
day that included the whole twenty-four hour day and what should
happen in each hour on the dot. At the end of every day he would ask himself
what he had accomplished and what good had he done on that day. This is
a sign of a man who not only cared for himself but also cared for his friends
and family meaning that the time and difficulty that it took to master
all of his skills was not an issue at all as an self centered person
would always want something in return.
A man whom never gave up no matter
how hard it seemed Franklin kept on going , he always saw the light at
the end of a dull and dusty tunnel. Persistence which is defined in the
Websters dictionary as one who is hardworking and never quits. Franklin
even though he was he youngest child he seemed to be the one with the most
strength and guts to just go out and face the world all on his own at an
age when he should of been at home doing chores and helping others like
his father make the candle wicks to bring money into the household. Franklin
believed in himself enough to put his life on the line to prove to others
that he could and would make something of himself no matter how hard or
strenuous it would be. Back in the time that Franklin was setting out
to prove himself he never had once a thought of death because he knew deep
down inside that his future and the future of others depended on him and
what he had accomplished in his lifetime .
Although most young men in his time
never actually knew what responsibility was until they set out into the
real world at or around the age of eighteen to twenty, Franklin was
one of the few , if not the only one to really and actually experience
the hardships and rewards of being in the real world all alone with no
one to call, because telephones had not been invented yet and by the time
he wrote and sent a letter home his problem could have been resolved. Franklin
never once told his father that he regretted going out all alone
into the real world, because he was a man who knew that whatever he wanted
he could have and all it took was a little hard work, which he was never
afraid of and belief ; Belief in one's self that no matter what got in
his way he would face it head on never having second doubts and always,
always thinking things through before you actually step and foot in. Franklin
never made a spare of the moment decision he was always precise and smart
minded for any new ideas that would come up.
Many of the adults in our time period
admire people such as Brittany Spears or Tom Hanks or some other famous
music or movie star, but I admire men or women who I can actually learn
something from or who I can have as a role model. So after reading "The
Autobiography of Benjamin Franklin", I realized that he was a great
man who achieved and accomplished many great things in his time. Even though
Franklin never had the state of the art education he made best of what
he had, he always read in his spare time this made an well educated person.
Franklin if any would be one of the best role models to follow because
he has order, persistence, responsibility and a numerous amount of other
good qualities that a good role model should acquire.
