Throughout this semester in English
106, I have actually learned so much that I don't know where to start,
but I guess I'll start with the use of the computer. I never knew that
the use of a computer would or could be so useful as it has been, for example
the creation of my web page where everyone around the world can see my
picture and read the personal information that I have posted. Also the
creation of the links om my web page such as the causal, proposal, religion,
definition, etc.. These links give the people who go to my web page a look
at a few of my writing techniques. Before this class the only thing I used
a computer for was to type up papers and to send a few mails to family
and friends and I'm currently a Junior.
The trips to the library really
helped too, I mean now I can see if they have a book in by going through
Brave cat and searching by the title, author, or even the subject. I also
learned how to pull a book off of the shelf by the call number all by myself
and used to I would have to have some other assistance. Even though the
library is filled with books, papers, periodicals, journals, etc.. I learned
the difference between a primary and a secondary source, for instance a
primary source is something that is original or something that comes straight
from the horses mouth. A secondary source is something that is interrupted
or analyzed from the original.
Before I would just read a book
and never look at the authors name to see if he or she was actually creditable;
now I look at the authors name, creditionals, and as I read through the
material I notice if it's written clear and well, and if it's not I just
close the book and move on to another one which has excellent creditionals
and clear understandable materials to read through.
Now before I turn in papers I always
proofread and make sure that the information is organized in an order
weather it be importance, topic or by subject. I also look over the spelling
of the words, grammar, mechanics and punctuation of each paragraph. If
the material is not correct than I re-write the paper so it's presentable
to the professor and that it makes me proud to present it.
I'll be the first to admit that
I'm not the best writer in the world and I may never be, but at least when
I present a paper to one of my professors they can tell that I worked really
hard and that I have done my best to get a good grade. I realize that we've
only had one or two individual writings and that they may have not been
the best and I probably could have done a better with a little more time
but at least I learned the various amount of skills on the computer that
it takes to post my information so you and others can read it. This class
has been very productive and it has been a pleasure to have such of an
well educated professor to teach me and my fellow classmates. At least
I know and I hope that you know now after reading this paper that I know
more now than I did before entering this class. These are the main reasons
that I think I deserve an "B" as my final grade in English 106.
