| My friend Mandy and I bought the same House at Alexandra Palace Fair back in 1998. We had a long 4 month wait for delivery but it was well worth the wait! I've painted my house and bricked the front using brick slips from "Grandad's Toys", it looks very effective although the house is quite heavy now and we try to avoid moving it too much. We put it onto a base ourselves and found some cabriole legs on an old stool at a carboot sale. It makes it a good height to look at and of course to work on. Although I have had to work laying on my back when I redecorated the pantry! The railings are plastic which are safe with children and cats around. They do get squashed regularly so I'm glad we didn't go for the made to measure metal railings which looked a bit lethal. The roof tiles are made of card, painted and finished with matt varnish. This looks very effective . The windows are all glazed which is useful for keeping out the dust . My local glaziers cut the very thin glass to size for me and it cost very little. My lovely husband made the pillars and bricked them, and set the railings in place for me. He's very helpful with things like that! I'm useless at anything involving wood so he's framed pictures for me, made snooker cues, even saved a single cat's whisker in an envelope "in case it comes in handy for you"! And it did! I made a miniature furry cat and it has real whiskers and fur! |
