We are originally from Sri Lanka and presently Permanent Residents of New Zealand.
I am an Airline Captain on the A340-500 with Singapore Airlines and My wife is a House Wife who is a Professional Beautician she is presently following an Undergraduate Course in Landscape Architecture at the Lincoln University in New Zealand, she also manages the Business Enterprise. The Kids are Schooling at UWCSEA in Singapore. Mayumi is 13, Machiko is 9 whilst Kimiko is 6. They are all outstanding swimmers with a bright future ahead of them.
Mayumi is Senior National Swimmer in Sri Lanka and was chosen to the squad for the South Asian Games that has been Postponed. Machiko was only recently exposed to competitive swimming in Sri Lanka and did very well securing 2 Golds and 1 Silver Medal at her first meet in Sri Lanka. Machiko also has many medals for the meets she has taken part in Singapore. Kimiko although has not taken part in Sri Lanka has qualified at The Singapore Novices and got 1Gold and 2 Silver Medals.
The 3 kids in addition to Swimming - Mayumi represents school at Net Ball, whilst Machiko represents school at Net Ball and Basket Ball where as Kimiko will be exposed to various sports next year.
They are Lovers of Animals. Machiko wants to start an Organisation to SAVE ANIMALS THAT ARE CLASSED EXTINCT.
Our Farms and Island are located in Te Kauwhata in New Zealand. Feasibility studies are presently underway to have Deer and Ostrich farming .Organic Cultivation is also a very good possibility whilst Horse Breeding is also a consideration.
The family has also just purchased a 41/2 acre Island in the Waikato River in the North Island of New Zealand, in close proximity to the farms.
Ramzi:
Mohamed Ramzi Raheem was born on the 15th of July 1961 in Colombo to Al Haj. T.M.A. Raheem who is a retired Chartered Engineer and the late Hajiani Jayadevi Raheem. He has one sister Mrs. Cherine Deane who is married to Mr. Asthar Deane and who lives in London.
After very illustrious carrier at D.S. Senanayake College Colombo 7 in which he excelled in all fields captaining almost all the teams in the school and was also the Head Prefect of the school. He was awarded the Most outstanding Student of the School award better known as the College Eagle which is presented to only a very few at the school.
After leaving school Ramzi worked for M/S Suby Tea who's Chairman Mr. Amin Suby was one who was, is and someone who will be very close to his heart. He partly owes what he is today to both his parents, Mr. Ralph Alles (Principal of DSS), and Mr. Amin Suby for all the guidance and help extended to him.
Ramzi has National Colours in Rugby, Swimming and Motor Sports having captained the Rugby team.
He proceeded for his flying training in 1982 to Fort Worth Texas. After qualifying in that year he worked as a relief Pilot at Air Taxis and Joined the National Carrier Air Lanka in 1984 as a Cadet Pilot and soon rose up the ranks and was given his command in 1991.
He Left Air Lanka at the end of 2000 and joined Singapore Airlines and is continuing his illustrious carrier with the company to date.
Ranjika:
Ranjika Raheem was born in Galle Sri Lanka on the 29th of March 1964 to the late Mr Kaluthotage Sirisekera who was a well known and reputed businessman in the Southern Province especially in Galle and Mrs, Soma Gunasekera who was a Principal of a school in Galle.
Ranjika has three sisters namely, Dr(Mrs) Palika Liyanage who is married to Mr. Gunasiri Liyanage who was basically like her father and mother. Mrs Dammika Pathirana who is married to Mr. Dharmadasa Pathirana, Mrs. Padma Dahanayake who is married to Mr Nandakumara Dahanayake, and three brothers namely Mr. Ananda Sirisekera who is married to Kusum, Mr. Chulananda Sirisekera who is married to Swarna, and Mr. Chanaka Sirisekera who is married to sandya.
Ranjika had an outstanding carrier at school where attended Sacret Heart Convent in Galle upto Grade 5 and then Visakha Vidyalaya in Colombo. She is and outstanding Net Ball player and excelled in athletics in school and public school level.
She qualified as a professional hair stylist in 1983 and joined Air Lanka in 1984 as a Flight Stewardess where she did exceptionally well with many awards until she left to get married in 1990.
She is now following an Under Graduate programme in Landscape architecture with the Lincoln University, Christchurch. New Zealand.
