Features:
As with the majority of ships built
throughout the latter half of the 23rd century, the Knox
class used components developed for the Enterprise and later
the Miranda class Starships. Identical to the Miranda
in most respects, there were some notable changes in her Saucer
which included the absence of a Photon Torpedo roll-bar unit and the
reduction in hangar bays from 2 to 1.
Mission:
In the early half of the 23rd century
(2240's-50's), extensive research of Federation involvement in
peace-keeping duties led to the development of the Surya
class Frigate, a fighting ship used primarily to deliver fighters
and troops into battle. The Knox can be considered a
direct descendant of the Surya and was used extensivly
throughout the later half of the 23rd century (2270's-90's) as a
general patrol and fleet support vessel.
