   Introduction

    You have always wondered what life on the farm would be like. Well today is your lucky day!  You have just inherited your grandaddy's farm. Your job is to fix the place up a bit.  You will also  need to decide which animals you want to live on the farm.

  The Task

     You have inherited a farm and you are trying to find the right animals to live there. You will use the sites listed below to research animals. You will use the information to decide which animals you want to live on your farm.

     The Process
 

            * Read The Red Barn
          * read about each animal
          * look at the sites to gather your information for each animal
          * draw a picture of at least 5 animals you want on your farm
          * write 3 facts on the back of each picture about the animal

Evaluation

          You will answer the following questions in your writing journal.
          1. What 5 animals did you pick to live on your farm?
          2. Which of the 5 is your favorite?
          3. Why is this animal your favorite?
          4. What are the phsical characteristics (what does it look like) of your favorite
               animal?
          5. Why would it be important to have this animal on your farm?
Conclusion

          Now do you feel like a farmer? Great job on choosing your animals! You should now be able to draw a poster of your farm and all of the animals on it to present to your classmates. Good Luck!
