RAMS PTSA Volunteer Position Descriptions Clerical Positions Spring Registration- In this position the volunteer will be helping with the setup and tearing down of chairs and tables. Volunteers will be handing out pre-registration forms and checking to make sure they are filled out properly. Make Copies- Copying various forms and files as needed by the SAO (Student Affairs Office) and/or the administrative offices. Assisting the SAO- In addition to making copies as described above, volunteers would be filing, delivering messages, and writing student passes amongst other office tasks. Nurse Office- Volunteers would be filing, running copies and other tasks helpful to the nursing staff. Home Positions The following positions entail volunteers preparing food for various school events and functions. Supply Snacks Make Covered Dishes Make Cakes or Cookies Lunch Positions Rec. Program- This is an all school year program. Students use this program to check out sports equipment and games to use during their lunch period. Volunteers are asked to work at the table where the students sign the equipment in and out as well as hand out the items. Recess- This is an all school year program. With this position volunteers are asked to help watch the lunch grounds to make sure the children behaving appropriately. Programs Spelling Bee-- Volunteers would be setting up on the days of the bees. Volunteers would also be doing any necessary cleanup associated with the bee as well. You would also be aiding with the supplied snacks by handing them out to the participants. Health Screening-- The school nurse gives the health screenings. So in addition to the described duties above, volunteers would help by supervising the children, possible note taking, and readying the necessary supplies. Field Trips-- There are various field trips through out the school year. Volunteers would be assisting teachers with the students on the trips by supervision, aiding with worksheets, and other associated tasks. Reflections-- The Reflections program is once a school year. With this program volunteers will be handing out forms, and possibly collecting the entries, and other tasks given by the Reflections coordinator. Scholastic Books-- Scholastic is an all school year round project. In this position you will be collecting, sorting, tallying and distributing orders to various classrooms. History Day-- History Day is once a school year. Among clerical tasks volunteers will be possibly collecting student entries, organizing them by category and other tasks assigned by the coordinator. Kids 4 Kids-- The program is an all school year round program designed for the children of deployed parent(s). This program goes on field trips and meets regularly (times to be announced) to aid children to cope with many of the issues that arise from a parent being deployed. Volunteers would be assisting with counselors and coordinators during the meetings. Also they would aid in handing out snacks, goodie bags, and possibly running some of the activities as well. Teacher Aids The following positions would entail volunteers handing out and/or making copies, reading to children and various other tasks given by the teacher. Tutoring Classroom Help After School Programs Team Parenting-- Each grade (6th, 7th, 8th) is divided into 3 teams with an equal amount of students per team. The team parent would work closely with the team leader as a point of contact for all volunteer needs. Some of the needs would be coordinating other volunteers for various team functions (parties, award ceremonies, etc.), assembling treat bags and aiding in the setup before and clean up after the function. Spirit Store-- Every Friday the spirit store opens during the three lunches to sell school items and various goodies for the kids. Volunteers would help with the duties associated with opening the store, selling the inventory, and the duties associated with closing the store. Picture Day-- This event usually occurs in, but is not limited to, the fall. Volunteers would be assisting the photographer by keeping the children in order to make the process go as expedient as possible, also possibly accepting the package orders, and organizing the classes.
